Fizzer knows. But it’s his game though in the end. I don’t know the financial and personal stuff that goes into it. Maybe he can’t make these changes. He sees the stats we don’t. But I don’t think we are wrong in feeling like people are leaving. If it feels like people are leaving, then some people will actually leave.

No one is leaving I see new players coming everyday, only RTs requiring high number of players are fading away. Meanwhile multi day gets filled easily.

It's certainly undeniable that if you're not playing a RoR or Imperium game with relatively light prerequisites, a game is much less likely to fill in a timely fashion, if at all, unless you're manually inviting friends over.

If that changes, and these games suddenly start filling again, then we're pretty good.

Tbh I think this game needs some serious advertising and encourage new players to play Open Games

Absolutely. But if copious amounts of people are flooding to the game for some QM, then there's an underlying issue we haven't addressed, which is why aren't people playing non-RoR or Romanum Imperium games? Why are those among the only few maps that actually fill games? Even 1v1s can take ages to fill if it's not on a popular map.

The only good thing that comes out of this is that it strengthens the necessity to be in a clan, because clans provide a platform for players. On that note I really think this game is an overall much better experience if you have friends or acquaintances to play with, especially with those players helping to jumpstart RT games. You also need reliable teammates if you're planning to get good games, and a lot of random players don't even use the team chat.

I've been slowly slackening my prerequisites as the games won't fill.
I find using unusual maps and weird titles turns people off. I can't remember the last time I didn't have to delete a game after waiting an hour with nobody joining (maybe it's just me!).

When I first joined, and for a few years after, I could get any crazy template to fill.
What has changed?
Are people less adventurous?
This problem existed before QM
To what degree does this kind of problem relate to the changes in the forums over the years?
People steadily moved away from them in favour of external chat sites (skype, discord, etc.).
Trolls multiplying, internet prowlers and a lack of legitimate discourse.
It's been a fascinating development, which I really don't understand hehe.

All I can say is that it seems to be ever harder to get any preposterous open games going. I miss the old days.

Some guy pointed this out in the RoR thread, and it's true for any category of popular thing. People have a tendency to standardize one thing; elevating one general skillset for this thing as the gold standard for the category of thing. RoR isn't the the best map and even if it were plenty of maps come close behind it - the fact that RoR gets played and other maps don't is an unfortunate consequence of standardization.

Active measure should be taken to prevent standardization. New maps need to be promoted even more especially to new players.

"Well, I stopped playing Warlight at 2017, came back recently, and I can say there's definitely a decline in RT games"

You literally can't when statistics prove you're wrong. You can say your games take longer to fill, but that doesn't mean fewer RT games are being played.

"To me QM and other smaller factors only caters to a very small audience."

There are over 45,000 players ranked on QM. It doesn't cater to a very small audience.
