Will you only be teaching those who wish to enroll, or can others still learn from you?

I only want to help players with [X] in their name. That shows a greater commitment, which I'll interpret as a greater willingness to learn. I want people I teach to eventually be able to challenge the best players.

Also, if you invite me to a game, please make it a practice game. I don't want to have 5000 games played any time soon.

What I was saying is that the fact that you have neither the [20] or [x] tag in front of your name shows a bad example and makes it look like you're not committed to either. Second, I'm a pretty decent player, regardless of my ladder stats. Third, why do you need two separate categories? Why not just have these people join [20] and participate in ladders and such in your league? that would give them experience with better players, and therefor teach them to be better players themselves?

Bad example? [20] is for tournaments and training. I told [20] players they could add the *tag* on the *line* called *tagline* or to their name. Many of the best players would refuse to participate in [20] if they were asked to change their name. The important thing is to have good players, not identical names. [X] is for apprentices. If I become myhand's apprentice, I will change my name to [X] Gui. Until then, I am not an apprentice to anyone. Asking an apprentice to change his name is for practical reasons:

- I want confirmation that they are serious about learning. Joining the clan is a sign of this.
- I want to keep track of the players I help (follow their games, to be able to offer suggestions/tips if I see them in games/tournaments). [X] on their name helps with this.

Eagle, with my help, I could get you to about 1650 on the 1v1 (your highest rating ever is 1394) and 1550 on the 2v2 ladder (your highest rating ever is 1321). Want to join [X]? We both know you could use the help.

[X] is like a gym for fat, out of shape people, or a weight room for athletes that want to be better. Eagle, you are obese. You could use a workout.

Yeah, please teach me oh great master. Let me bow down and kiss your feet.

The game's not all about hyper-competitiveness. Many of us (I know this is hard to believe, but just trust me on this one) play the game just for fun. I enjoy playing games with my clan-mates and getting better through testing strategies and helping one another. I do not claim to be the best, nor do I even claim to be good. Many of my games aren't even set up to be competitive, they're set up to test out settings and try weird games and test out different maps. My ladder scores are not that good, and I'm fine with that. I have gotten consistently better since I've started playing, and most of that is due to friendly banter, suggestions, and working together. I prefer this method, as it's more fun (which is the point of a game) and because I believe it works better and brings apart new strategies and innovation rather than being indoctrinated into what someone else believes to be best.

When I teach, I say: "Mian thinks this," "Impaller does this," "HHH does this," "BP said this," "zaeban does this," etc. Lesson #1 Eagle: There are many different styles of play that could lead to one being a good/great player. Or as Bruce Li said (paraphrase): "Not having any style at all is the most effective style: adapt to your enemy." He got that idea from Daoism: 无为有所为 (I'd translate this as "not being anything is [in essence] being everything").

The game is not about hyper-competitiveness. True. I am not especially competitive in all my games, only some. Though it seems you treat the forum as a place where you must be very competitive. It is odd you accept losing in the game, but on the game's forum you prefer being competitive. I like to have fun on both.

Forums are about discussion, not about winning or losing. And of course I accept losing. You learn more from analyzing losses than you do from victories. I'm not commenting here about "winning", merely about my thoughts on your "clan" system all together (if you could ever consider this as any sort of clan), and your seeming lack of commitment to the system you yourself have made. You quite often comment on other people's clan threads about what is wrong with their clans and ideas. This is me doing the same, by commenting on your own system.

i learn from wins (good) and losses (bad):

三人行 three people walk [self included]
必有我師焉 i must have a teacher
擇其善者而從之 i follow the good person's habits
其不善者而改之 i change the bad person's habits [in my self]

ema, yeah, just add [X] to your name and invite me to a game. if you want to practice the 2v2 ladder;

- create game
- medium
- scroll down to very bottom: strategic 2v2

if anyone wants to invite me to the auto game:

- create game
- small
- strategic 1v1

This is a nice clan in my opinion, not only will this improve the warlight community, it will also add more competition.
