So I’ve checked out the walkthroughs on YouTube for Floating Skills, but actual gameplay is far different than shown on the videos. The AI is more aggressive than shown and my nearest neighbor drops a ton of armies on me a turn or two after we meet. It doesn’t seem to matter what I do, as soon as we meet I get bogged down taking care of the first general and by the time I do I’m essentially overwhelmed by the next general who is at my doorstep with a massive army and it becomes clear that I don’t have a chance. I’ve tried expanding quickly and grabbing territory for bonus armies as fast as humanly possible but by the time we meet, he’s getting a ton of bonuses too. Not to mention the +20 cards. I’ve also tried making a beeline for him, knowing where he hides, but to no avail. I bog down on his outermost territories and eventually I’m hosed again. Input anyone?

"i’ve tried expanding quickly and grabbing territory for bonus armies as fast as humanly possible"

well thats already false since otherwhise you will be able to beat him. You generally should plan ahead of wich bonuses to take and you should always remember that the AI only reacts to that what is there and NOT what COULD be there. so the more armies you border the AI with the more the AI will set against you so i would try keeping the armies down. I dont quiet remember playing this level tho i have a gold start. I can play it and tell you what and why i did that if that helps.

And you should always try killign their commander if your in reach.

No, it’s not false. What a crappy way to lead your reply. Thank you for the rest of the advice though. I know to go after the nearest commander first but I have divided fronts and heavy armies from the next commander knocking on my door by the time I’m in a position to kill the first. Simply gathering bonuses quickly does not guarantee a victory. Once the first commander is killed I haven’t progressed far on other fronts and the next commander is getting a ridiculous number of armies on their turns. I can hardly get off the two islands closest to my starting point. If I could figure out how to post a pic here I will show you the progress he has made compared to mine when we meet. I have two armies nearest an adjoining territory and he takes that territory with 25 armies. Now I have to slow my advancement to preserve what I already own. I’ll keep at it and I’ll beat it, but’s kind a bear.

replayed that level right now to check your point.
you need to work on your fighting skills againt AI. i rolled over the first AI before i encountered the second. killed that before i even got a glimpse at the third.
overran the third with stacks of 75+

Guess I need to work on it, that’s fine. I usually do okay but this one is giving me fits. I can’t roll over the first AI, he really bogs me down. Do you do a two pronged attack or just pick one avenue and go at him?

Figured it out. I went balls out toward the first general while also expanding for bonuses. I ignored what armies behind me were doing and boxed him in and took him out. That bought me enough time to expand towards the others. Fairly easy once the first general was down. The key was to not give him time to expand and to not be concerned where his armies were headed. Once he was down there was obviously no opposition for a short while. Thanks folks.

one thing i also do is that i actually use my commander to do stuff and im playing very aggresivly with my commander to the point where i attack with my commander the AI's commander. it isnt that risky against the first AI encounter but when its late game i would put the commander back tho the AI isnt trying to go for the commander. from what it seems like the AI sees the commander as a normal stack of 7 (i think the commander is worth 7armies) and wont specificly try to kill it.
