Made an epic ASOIAF template based on on the second stage of the War of the Five Kings, where Stannis is on the Wall, Aegon in the Stormlands, etc. Then I forgot to overwrite the 3+ hours worth of changes I made.

Really sorry to hear that, Daniel... On my end, there's nothing more frustrating than Photoshop crashing after I spend 2-3 hours drawing.

But when this happens and I give the same drawing another try, it almost always turns out better than the first. Don't give up and be sure to save your modifications often!

Also this might sound stupid at first but that's why I usually write out my general template design on paper first. Like, physical computer paper.

Don't have to worry about enabling autosave there. Still a pain to replicate it, but if you haven't lost 3+ hours of work to something silly, well, you haven't lived.

Saving every now and then is your friend.
