I retired almost exactly 2 years ago, and while I've occasionally visited the site out of interest, I haven't kept up with anything here at all. Anyone fancy summarising the last 2 years? Which clans are dominating? How has the site developed? Anyone I know still around?

Major Developments:

-WL is transitioning to unity
-MOTD creates the MDL, which is taking the strategy community by storm:

-FCC (My own)
-Hydra (out of a merger between AWF and Illuminauti
-Outlaws (from a group of players from 101st)

-Warlighters, although you probably know this xD.

The dominating clans are:

Warlight Trends:

-Diplomacy Games are becoming less popular
-The amount of players overall playing this game is generally steady.
-"Training/Sister Clans" are becoming more popular, such as GGr and GG, Appretice and Masters, 101st and Lynx.
-Multiclanning is growing.
-Clan Leauge is driving some clans to build specifically for it.

Other stuff

-2v2 Ladder template changed from 2 starts to 3
-RT Ladder uses many new templates.

Not too much, Awesome - can't believe I had to retire from WL to focus on GSCE, now that my A Levels are coming up xD

This template is one that has stuck out the most as of late in the strat community. It uses non-traditional bonuses which make for unique gameplay.

Generally, off-topic content is low quality.

Decent general summary Aura but French are most certain more "elite" than WG (WG is no longer elite imo where as french is borderline)

As a member of the clan sitting in 3rd in CL, I feel disrespected.

To build off of Rikku and Beren, I think your "elite" clan analysis needs some updating aura. I have a hard time seeing how WG is considered an elite clan while they hold 4th place in Div B.

I do see your point about GG despite being in div B as it seems like they upgraded their roster from last year. But, then again, what really defines, "elite." Would be an interesting forum topic.

Which clans are dominating?

Strategically based on CL, Masters are dominating and are likely to dominate for atleast 1 or 2 CL seasons. They are over the ladders and are enjoying being the king clan. Lynx managed to win a CL and French are still consistent in A division. ONE! have gotten a revival thanks to Beren and look to be securing 2nd if they keep it up. Turtles are top 3 clan with many talented players just a bit unlucky not to be top 3 atleast. Outlaws made a balls up of the line-up but are considered by most a good clan and are now looking to be in a dog fight with French to not get relegated. GG got relegated and should make it to A next season and keep at being A aslong as no major line-up faults.. These are the "A" clans.

For clans rising up to make a significant impact to be at the "A" level which is what the word "Dominating" means for me.. ONE! have probably made the breakthrough.. Outlaws another clan to make a breakthrough sometime in the future maybe but they are young clan...

WG decreased being stuck at 4th in CL B division way below their usual stand in earlier CL seasons. Apex died also.

If I were a betting man, I'd say M'Hunters, Outlaws, and VS are at least as good as French.

But IMO, there are fewer elite clans than that. I'd say "elite" is a clan that if we started CL over again today, and they were put in A, we could confidently say they would not get demoted. I'm not sure how many clans there are that fit that as of today.

To Me, An elite clan must do the following:

-Contain mainly top-tier strat players
-Hold on to those strat players
-Be the aim of the community to reach those clans.

Therefore, I do not consider French an elite clan, since their stated goal is to be a community clan, and I do not consider One! to be an elite clan, because it seems to struggle with retaining their top players, and loses them to other clans.

WG's historic presence seems to make me bias them, however, I must agree, they are currently underwhelming at the moment.

Please note, that when I make these distinctions, they are not meant to be taken personally. An "Elite Clan" may not be filled with "Elite players" nor may a clan filled with "Elite players" not necessarily be an "Elite Clan". For me, One! is very close, however, until they can retain players better, I feel like it is difficult to categorize as elite to me.

Furthermore, me not categorizing a clan as "Elite" is not a criticism of a clan, it is a categorization of a clan. A clan can be a great community without having to be an elite clan, and an elite clan may not have a great community. Outlaws, for example, is a community I feel difficult to categorize as being elite, as they aim for players with good potential as well as top tier players, in addition to retention issues of their own. However, I am well aware that they have a wealthy core community, and aim to become a stronger strategy base as a whole.

I apologize, Beren, if I may have offended you. I am no way trying to disrespect you, nor would I ever want to disrespect you. You have gotten further with your clan then most. But I truly feel that "elite" is a category that should be used only for an exclusive few clans that have unquestionably reach the criterion that I have listed. Unfortunately, I do not feel One! has quite reached that level yet.

Please also note that I am one person, with one idea of what elite is. In the end, it is the community as a whole, not I, that determines whether a clan is "Elite" or not.

Plese further note that this is NOT meant to downplay the achievements of One! or the intent of the clan. I feel that, what they have done with their roster so far is pretty incredible, and is worthy of respect.

Not offended or "disrespected" but I don't understand how you are saying Outlaws have retention issues. The players that have left are players who didn't fit in the community and left the clan on their own accord. Retention is keeping players that I want to keep... While the players that have left the clan was for the best for both parties meaning I didn't want them.

Outsider vs Insider perspective, I guess. I can't see from the inside of the clan, so I would not know. My mistake.

I don't believe it is the same case with One!, however. Perhaps it is. I guess I really cannot speculate on this. I should not judge on the outsider perspective.

Haha I'm not offended in the slightest, and to be honest, I don't care at all if people think ONE is "elite" or not. I prefer to let our results speak for themselves.
