I was working diligently on this map for quite a while: https://www.warlight.net/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=52139 but I've since stopped warlight and I'd hate for the map to go abandoned. Does anyone want to step in and help finish naming territories and bonuses? The south-east is the only area where territories still need to be named. I'm attempting to keep it as geographically accurate as possible, so I've been using a combination of google maps and http://caltopo.com/map.html

Please let me know if you're interested in helping out.

https://mapcarta.com/

It lags quite a bit, but it's a lifesaver. Sooooo many names.

As for the map, the biggest (and really only) flaw I discovered was that the bonuses have overlapping borders. The superbonuses are fine, but the regular bonuses overlap.

Apart from that.....damn. That is one beautiful map.

If you have a valid reason to bump a thread, explain what it is.

So this thread won't become lost and buried. He came onto the forums seeking help, so I want him to actually receive it.
Just stay on topic and help him if you can rather than needlessly criticizing me, please.

Thanks for the bump Clint. I dug up an old google docs sheet to help anyone who wants to just occasionally name one or two bonuses (any help helps). https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ocpLITLfsp0UwvLMOvw-iO4F_NBd7rcoW2nUpxdSNfU/edit?usp=sharing

In the map page, I'll make sure to credit everyone who helped along the way.

One rule for the naming of territories I was trying to stick to is that I didn't want to use names of towns with populations under 1000 people, but instead use geographic/park names if there were no communities of that size in the area.

I should also mention that I've playtested this map a number of times now and everyone so far has been okay with the overlapping region boundaries (it was needed for the intricacy of this map graphics). Also, it's seems to play well with large team games and all the missing connections have been corrected. The map literally just needs names.

I don't think that's possible. There's a lot of wilderness in that region, and most national parks are pretty big, so it would probably be impossible to find one for every territory. I suppose you could name territories after lakes, mountains, rivers, forests...but still, I think it would be easier to just forgo the no-towns-under-1,000-people rule.

did you try GIS. you can download administrative areas for free and probably load them into QGIS which is freeware. all those areas are named and most of the time very detailed.

Ranek, I've looked at GIS briefly in the past but at no point have I ever understood it. If you're able to point me to a how-to on it that's dead simple, or even just take on this task, if it is that simple, that would be lovely.
