as for the rp games i've played - they were invite-only made by people highly involved in rp clans.. so my observation is still valid. You are not really roleplaying if you play to win.

Thats offensive. in the FFA season General Mac got fourth. After you get top 5 in the seasonal you can talk about not competitive

That's like saying you don't get a girlfriend to have sex. I mean sure, it's not the main reason, but it's in the top 2.

Edit: Brain, Diplomacy games are a subcategory of RP games.

Btw, the meme thread died, how sad...

It's all in the name. Role play. If trying to win fits with the role you decided to take on, then yes, you are roleplaying if you play to win. There's a fine line between them. I guess a lot of people are driven to become powerful in any game, but I often find being a smaller power can be more rewarding in different scenarios. A lot of negative experiences will be attributed to who you played with and on which scenario.

Interesting topic.
Interesting to read subjective opinions about player skills, but...

Really I am the only person from Warlight community who is interested in an objective ranking system? :(

Yeah Ekstone, youre the only one, its not like people are constantly complaining about the 1v1 ladder and starting threads about how to improve it, or what to replace it with.

Just you.

Actually, I don't know many RP games where placing 2nd is the objective of the game. I'm actually tackling Fridge's weak definition of winning. For example, to win in G Mac's Head Hunter scenario you have to gather the largest amount of money from eliminating targets. Therefore, winning is defined as who has the most money at the end of the game, not who survives the longest.

Ekstone, there have been countless players who have suggested a universal ELO ladder for WarLight, but we've already been over it countless times. The programming needed for that makes it nearly impossible or something like that. It was awhile back that the last thread talked about it.

Winning depends on the objective of the game, for example a ww2 game you would try and win not for stats because it's practise. Games like sphere of influence have special rules, where winning is achieved differently.

All I know is I have won almost every rp game I have played in so far (or been on winning side in a couple cases). That does not make me a top player, just good at diplomacy

You don´t win in rp games, you stall long enough that everyone gets bored and votes to end.
