Hello. This is, obviously, a new account. It will be used solely to try and teach players that want to improve at warlight, specifically at the strategic 1v1 template (the template used in the 1v1 autogame, and on the 1v1 ladder).

Most people teach by having you play vs. them, and then going over the game with you afterwards and trying to show you what you did wrong.

This works okay, but it isn't ideal, and it is now how I plan to teach.

I intend to play the games "with" you, not against you. We will both be logged into the account while it is in use, so that we can both see the board and discuss our moves for the turn before we make them. This way we can correct your errors before you make them, and show you what the right moves are in real-time, so you can see the result of them rather than making you have to attempt to visualize how a game might have went had you played it differently.

This is more hands on, and interactive, and each game will likely take longer, but it should help you learn much more from each game than other methods do.

If this interests you feel free to respond here or send me a PM.

Cool, and you are bang on correct about this being a better way to teach.

Who are you?

101st has been thinking of something similar; but if this is independent then I'm curious as to who you are - it matters because I teach people too and if you are good enough then I'll encourage people to go your way.

I am not in any clan that competes in clan league, nor am I looking to recruit for any clan. (I am assuming that's what the concern regarding "independent" was about.)

I make no promises as to how much someone will improve, since a large part of improvement will depend on how much effort they are willing to put into improving, but I am a ~2100 elo 1v1 ladder player, and I expect I'd have little issue teaching someone dedicated to learning to play at a bare minimum of a 1900-2000 elo level whether they're currently a 1500 rated player, or a 1700 rated player.

The only way in which my plan is selfish, is that I expect that I will likely learn to play better myself from attempting to teach others because it may lead to me thinking about aspects of the game I'd otherwise normally overlook.

Haha, my comment about "independent" was actually me thinking - wait, this is so weird - I was talking about exactly this with 101st, maybe this is somebody who was part of that conversation, otherwise it's a super weird coincidence.

And you are correct again that teaching improves you :)

I'll PM you.

Hi

Sounds really a good idea.
I would like a lot to be teached and helped by someone as I am stuck in the "World war pixel" level, with all my attempts beeing unsuccessfull and i am getting borednot to understand what is wrong in my doings.

I am not a so good player but until this level I have passed all the levels, sometimes not brillantly but, well.. i am nex in this game.

Now how would this work ?

Many thanks by he way

Georges

For the most part, I've intended to stick to strat 1v1, though the strategies used in strat 1v1 can be applied to other templates. I haven't actually played any of the single player levels since they were revamped, but I could take a look at that one and see if I can beat it, and if so then do it again in the manner prescribed above.

If you want to improve 1v1 strat skills, you could apply for Warlight Training School https://www.warlight.net/Forum/188126-warlight-training-school-goes-public

We provide training on all aspects of Warlight and 1v1 strat is not our main focus, but if you're interested in playing specifically 1v1 strat you need to inform about your preference and you'll get invited to only 1v1 strat games which should consist of ~6 training games(3 versus me, 3 versus other strong players) an exam game and maybe a 1v1 strat tournament depending on how many players are interested in this program.

A large amount of games in our main program are team games, in whom you are likely to have 1 teacher or strong guest player on your side, so real-time review of your committed orders is an usual thing. We also do that in 1v1 games too, but because on fog settings we can't see your full positions, we cannot spot all your weak moves in time. Some of our early games have no fog setting, so even on 1v1 game we can offer you quick advice.
