Hello, and WELCOME to the 63rd WarGamingLive Streamed tournament week!

For those of you who are new to WGL, this is a weekly event hosted by experienced players. It usually consists of two LIVE tournaments, which will be broadcasted with in-depth analysis and commentary by some of the top Warlight players. The broadcast (stream) is hosted on twitch.tv

We try to play different settings every week.
You can find most of the earlier streams at:
http://twitch.tv/wargaminglive

http://twitch.tv/wargamminghost

http://twitch.tv/psenough

http://twitch.tv/thewarlightmaster

Templates for this week:

1v1: Strategic 1v1 Medium Earth
2v2: Strategic 2v2 Medium Earth

If you have a suggestion for a template we should use, feel free to drop the link on the forum.

Times & Dates:

(1v1) - November 30th, 2013 - 11:00 US/Central // 18:00 GMT // 19:00 Continental Europe (GMT+1)
http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20131130T18&p0=133&msg=WGL+%2363+1vs1

(2v2) - December 1st, 2013 - 11:00 US/Central // 18:00 GMT // 19:00 Continental Europe (GMT+1)
http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20131201T18&p0=133&msg=WGL+%2363+2vs2

How to join:

Everyone is welcome to join the tournament lobby. We encourage all - experienced players and newbies.

We will be making a "Lobby" to test whether or not the participants signed up are active. The lobby is usually opened around 30 minutes before the actual tournament. The lobby will show up in the open tourney listings. Either you can be invited to it, or join it outright.

Even if you post here and get thrown on WGL invite list your spot is not guaranteed.
To be included into the WGL tournament, you have to join LOBBY TOURNAMENT first. Then depending on the number of people interested, we will decide how big the real tournament will be. Usually there are slightly less open spots, than people interested. In that case it will be decided following two rules: the priority to join the tournament will be given to the "regular" participants and legends of WGL. Then the other teams will be invited, and we will use first come - first serve rule - whichever team accepts tournament faster gets in.

Commentators and Hosts:

We are always looking for new stream hosts - if you are willing to help, and have a powerful computer AND a fast internet connection, then contact either one of the current active hosts: Pushover, ps, TheWarlightMaster and Latnox.

Active commentators: Malamute, Sarutobi, Lolowut, Lord Syvedyas, Szeweningen.

Past hosts and commentators: Mythonian, Fizzer, Dunga, x, Reza, Robespierre, Trollusa, Gnuffone, Mian, kcscrag, Dom365 and many more!

Thanks for the links guys, I updated the stats; if there are any mistakes don't be shy to point them out and also if any of the winners are alts of some player.

i think Manuel Calavera and Lord Byronic were considered alts of myhand, not sure if it's "officially confirmed" or not. But if myhand doesn't care about his alts being recognized for wgl legend stats we probably also shouldn't.

Chris, rento, Krzychu, Seahwaks, ps, sze, falker and maybe a few others that i missed.

A novel idea: don't let the same guys be teammates each time and make the teams more balanced. What those team statistics scream out is the team tournaments lack balance and competition. How many times has one strong team had little competition? Isn't it usually the case that there are two strong teams? And the winner of that single game wins the tournament? If guys who have won at least two team tournaments are not allowed to team up, wouldn't the resulting statistics be more meaningful?

These team tournaments are no better than old #Elite! games, and are run by a former #Elite! member. Coincidence? #stat farming#

I think, that if the live stream tournaments are going to get bigger they need to:

A) Promote better, so more "noobs", not just us regulars join this (even though i know you hate 64 + tournies :P). Some type of promotion games, like 1 pro (a legend from the live stream tournies mayhaps) vs 23 noobs would be fun, and you can stick an advertisment in for the upcoming tournaments aswell. A diplomacy tourmanent would be great advertisment aswell, allthough then I think you need multiple days to cover it

B) Do more interesting set ups... i want more 3v3s for example, and there are some good maps , like Battle Island IV and V and Earth Big that are really good 3v3 maps.

That i think should be the seeds that will make the normal tournies get more traction.

no big map 3v3s would take ages and not everyone wants to spend their whole sunday on warlight, 3 hours is enough

Honestly, as far as competition goes, there's plenty of it. HHH and Timinator had a long streak, but during their streak Szew, Gnuffone, Frank, Fridge, Gangnam, Dunga, x, and Myhand all participated. All of the aforementioned players are legends, and are hard competition by all means. Sometimes you get a team that gets in a good rhythm and they rip into the tournaments for awhile. HHH and Timinator both have played with different partners.

As far as alts go, I've never been a big proponent, but so long as no one is trying to increase their odds at winning (IE: Entering 2 teams), then I honestly don't see how it truly helps them. Playing with an alt gives only 1 viewpoint on the game, playing with another player gives 2 viewpoints. We saw the final of this recent tournament have 2 teams of players, despite half the tournament having teams with alts playing.

When it comes to what we should do in the future, I love to do big tournaments with 64 or more players involved, but that is completely dependent on if Fizzer is around to do that advertising for us. I promote WGL through the forums and through word of mouth basically. I have no control over the methods Fizzer has of advertisement.
