I'm of the opinion that Warlight has too few premodern Africa maps (zero, as far as I know).
This has several good reasons, of course: there's just too little good data to work off of, and a lot of precolonial Africa was splintered tribes with only a few unified states.
As such, I decided to make a base map of ethnicities (and/or tribes)of the entire continent, and "overlay" that base map with several bonus charts. I hope this can better reflect the historical state of Africa: mainly small groups, with as an extra bonus a few strong nations.
I could use some help, of course.
- The ethnoghraphic map is mostly based on Murdocks 1959 map. It is well known that he made some mistakes, but no one has ever been able to make a better version of it. If there's something wrong with the naming/location on my map that you know of, please tell me.
- If I've missed any big (well-documented) states on the historical charts I'd like to add those too.
- Missing connections are always welcome.
- And lastly: if everything is fine, I could always use some test players.
