Min34, there is hardly any point I can disagree with in your arguments.

When I started this thread I indeed didn't take into consideration the 'not so obvious' reasons for the case.

So the main two reasons why people take part in organized trainings, as opposed to free, self-organized are:

    * Convenience, in case of sports which are problematic to do on your own. Also, you don't need to think and plan your own time on training, someone does that for you.

    But most importantly,
    * Organized sports tend to provide more stimulation, especially team sports.

So brain stimulation is the answer. It is the decisive factor. Here's an article on this

One of the main reasons to pay for sports that doesn't seem to have been mentioned is training. If you want proper training in that sport then you have to pay. Online youtube videos can only do so much.

Also paying for facilities and equipment.

The main reason to do a sport that you love is that it gives you enjoyment, releasing endorphines that will help you with motivation and to be a more well rounded person.

Some people can be poor, but if you earn any amount of money, and you can read and write and have access to a computer then you are not poor by any standard. Put aside a small amount of money each week or month and put it towards something you enjoy, purely for entertainment and you will find that your quality of life and motivation will improve.

That doesn't have to be sports, but it may be for some :)

Edit: Spelling

Because most sports that involve a ball or something:

1. Involve running anyways.
2. Are more fun than just running or cycling.
3. Are played with a team.

Calling people stupid only because they like things you don't like or don't understand could be called arrogance

It's actually called bigotry. OP is a bigot.

big·ot·ry: intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself.

I love how people call you a bigot or an arrogant person, or stupid just because you have expressed your opinion on a behaviour. It seems to me that Krzysztof, Wally Balls and Masterofwarsozone are very insecure, sensitive beings, who get "triggered" by someone else's opinion which is unlike theirs. It's only sad to see this.

FYI I don't hate people with different opinion or people who I find behaving stupid. I just mind my own business, unlike some of you.

You can have an opinion about sports, no problem.

When you are intolerant of how other people feel about sports, that's when you become a bigot. You claim you just mind your own business and don't hate people with different opinions but all you've been doing in this thread is attacking other people for their opinions. That's bigotry.

If you accuse me of bigotry, please at least give a quote which confirms so. I doubt you will find a single sentence where I "attack other people for their opinions".

Also, how can you be tolerant or intolerant of others people's feelings about something? This sentence doesn't even make sense.

The same way you can be tolerant of intolerant of anything. By tolerating or not tolerating it.

Person A: "I feel Polish people are dumb and smell bad."

Person B: "That's a sign of stupidity."

Person B, using a direct quote from you, is showing intolerance of Person A's feelings.

If you accuse me of bigotry, please at least give a quote which confirms so

"it's a sign of stupidity."

"I find them do stupid things"

"people who I find behaving stupid"

Wally Balls, I won't respond to your last post. I have no patience for this, maybe someone else has this patience.

Playing sports make me happier, healthier, and more effective at work (which helps me make more money). Well worth the cost.

That's because you're wrong and you know it.
