Invite please, one question why can't the mafia be decided in the standard way (random.org). I'm not sure I follow what the benefit of having it automatically done by relay PM's is, could you explain?

Btw if you want I could forward invites to people who have already played mafia before on this site.

I think the purpose of that is so that the mafia can decide who their teammates are.

Cant you make a simpler process for picking mafia members? Why not just pick 5 random people and send them a message "You are a mafia member, the other mafia members are X,Y, and Z"; meanwhile send all the other players a message "You are a civilian; you dont know who the mafia members are"

I'll do my best to invite you to the game - it's going to be a busy weekend!

As for random.org: is there a way to use that website to randomly generate Mafia roles *without anyone in the game knowing who they are*? I don't know of one.

The goal of design is to remove the need for a "game master", or someone who knows the roles, and, therefore, cannot play.

It also doesn't use any random processes but still maintains complete lack of knowledge or certainty, which was a design goal. I think it's interesting!

More importantly:

It looks like there is no way to delay a tournament starting, so I may have to "re-create" the game manually after the tournament begins. This is a pain!

Boy, I would love to have this option:

Please vote for it - or suggest a better way!

Go here -> https://www.random.org/lists/
One name per line, enter the name of every participant, and click "randomize". The top five names are the
mafia members.
There's no way any way anyone else can view the results. Of course, that means you must trust your game master, and that the game master cant play.

Well, that's hardly revolutionary! There are a million ways to do this with a "game master".

The whole point of my design is to remove the need for a game master at all. :)

It may be possible to create a bot to use as a game master, but I'm pretty sure it would violate TOS.

I would rather have a simple system that requires a game master then a super complex one that does not <_<

Well, that's certainly fair! But I enjoyed the design challenge of doing this way, and it's not all that complicated in practice (really, the initial composition of the messages was the only tricky part).
