I am only a beginner mapmaker (only 1 so far), but did I get it right that you tried to upload the SVG from Wikipedia? If yes, I suggest you reading through this: https://www.warlight.net/wiki/Map_Making
Using 'trace bitmap' is really simple. Select the image you have imported, go into the path menu and click 'trace bitmap', then tick 'colours' near the bottom of the window that pops up, then make sure the number of scans is either 7 or 8, then click ok.
I would generally like to keep it focused on the Peloponnesian war,the best reason that I can see to include the Persian Empire is for the wars on Cyprus between Atenians and the Pesian Empire,so I guess I could include some territories.
Well,it seems that,as of now, this map is way too detailed to fir the size limit, and I am sad to see that, because I wanted it to be detailed...Guess I'll have to make some changes, especially if I want to put sicily in :(
apollo, as soon as youve uploaded a map on warlight you can share a link. it doesnt need to be public. on the bottom of the left frame is a button which says: link for sharing. just try it - it is very much self explaining. with that link it will be much easier to help you out on any issue within this thread. =)
Since this thread is mainly about map making, do you guys have some tips about it? The main things I'm worried about are how to make oceans and land appear blue and green on the Warlight maps, and how to make territories that touch each other perfectly. Other things that I'm focused about are how to make text curved & how to make a distribution. I'm currently trying to make a real world map of Ancient Greece (ironically), and all of your replies would help.
