There are plenty of reasonable reasons why people would want to use an alternative account, such as:

-Being in multiple clans
-Using different account for different game types (see Nogals / mister Aqua)
-Byeing RT tourneys
-Playing team games with your self RT to avoid randoms.

And I'm sure there are many I've missed. Straight up calling them the cancer of Warlight is willful ignorance.

Yes some people will use alts for bad purpose but that is no need to deflame the use of all alts. If you see someone gaining an unfair advantage in a game or ladder with an alt report it! :p

People who want to cheat would create alts regardless if they are permitted or not.

Anyway this discussion was derailed a bit. Thread creator was not concerned on alts but the fact that some guys play for other clans than they are currently part of. Which is inevitable, people switch clans all the time. Any rule preventing CL participants from doing that would add another problem to organiziation of the event, as if this is not quite complicated anyway :P

Clans are just a group of friends. If you started out in one clan, and eventually move on to another, you can still have friends. I don't see the point of forcing someone to move back to their old clan, just to play the clan league.

What is the solution to players moving clans during a season? Do you want to forbid that as well? If not, the tournament page looks exactly as it does today.

Say we did implement such a rule, what stops someone from temporarily joining their old clan for a day, and switching back after the clan league begins?

Of course, a player can leave a clan and join another at any time. We cant change this steady flow.
BUT...
The thing is if you allow it now openly and with good conscience, the threshold (i hope i translated it right) is sinking to change a clan just for Clan League. The next step is that high skilled players that are not playing in the CL, because in their clan are even better players than theriselves, switch to low skilled clans in lower divisions ... Supressing the actually core and soul of a specific clan.

Don't force low-skilled clans letting chartered players play for them instead of their real representatives of a clan ... just to stay competitive.

Its like selling your clan's soul.

So you're saying players in division E need to be bad and players in division A need to be good or else it's unethical?

?? This is not at all happening! What is happening is players from lower divisions join clans in higher divisions, but sometimes they still play for their ex-clan. Basically you're angry because smileyleg decided to join WG.

Of course I am not happy seeing our opponents suddendly getting stronger, would you?

btw smileyleg is a WG now and plays for TJC again.
Although he played for TJC before it is still a change from Division A (actual clan) to D (clan he is playing for).

But actually I dont want to fix at smileyleg or TJC or someoneelse, really not. Please don't interpret it wrong.

Its just about the next CL and the CL after it. If you dont stay at certain rules. More and more players WILL (I dont say it is happening now) pushing rules how they want it until it is no fun to play CL anymore

smileyleg joined WG just as CL was starting. That's a different scenario. In fact the only case I know of of a top player joining and playing with a lower division clan is ... Quicksand with CORP.

Skal as you say I do have an alt in NWO and It was a mistake that the organizers invited this account instead of the other one (due to similar name) and I even got the permission from the organizers to join even with the other account since it's my main. BTW NinjaNic joined another clan after the CL started as any of us can change clans while CL is going on, you can't disqualify them for that.

Yeah, sorry guys. I do have an alt in Acme Co. I didn't know that I was going to purchase a clan until after the CL rosters were already submitted. I should have told Chris to invite my alt, but the roster probably linked this account. (I wasn't in charge of organizing it in Acme.) I continue to keep up with Acme, however and I feel like I'm still in that clan. I was in the wrong for not giving notice.

facing Alts everywhere should not be the goal.
I get it, that some players want to stay active in multiple clans. Especially with this shitty communication system you have to use everything you can to make communication possible.

Additionally the mercenary problem will become a problem, I am sure. Maybe it is not such a big deal now, but I think that there are more people then just 1. I think clans should send their players. If a player decided you join another clan and wants to leave an alt in his/her old clan, ok. But please play for your new clan then.
