Seeing Duke whine/acknowledge his loss of 1st place on the team ladder got me curious as to how people are doing relative to their individual 1v1 ladder performance and how the numbers stack up.

The X's mean the person is currently not on the ladder and unranked, but has a rating.
The ?'s mean the person is not on the ladder and does not have a rating.

What I found interesting was that for the top 6 teams on the 2v2 ladder, their rank is accurately predicted by the total of their individual ratings. You could say the % for relative performance is how they did in relation to how you might expect them to do based on their individual ratings. Thought it might act sort of as an indicator for how well the two people do as a team versus individually.

Sorry the tables aren't more readable. Getting information aligned here is a beast and I don't know of a better way to do it. Even with preview it took a lot of effort. Without preview that would have come out jacked all to hell, heavily misaligned.

I blame the main discrepency *namely my team* on mine and crafty's recent lack of activity, including the resulting two lost games due to bootings... afaik neither of us have had any booted games in the 1v1 ladder.

wow, that's really cool. So basically, find the highest rated 1v1 player you can and be their partner for 2v2.

1v1 strength does transfer over to the team games fairly accurately in this small subset.

I wasn't whining...

I thought a 40+ point jump for beating a team with a 1450 rating was bizarre.

R and I were expecting to give up 1st place in the next couple of weeks as we've fallen behind in our open games and Nuck was right behind us. BP and E's leapfrog was a surprise.

The congrats were definitely a bit halfhearted. They will be more heartfelt when Nuck passes us.

The chart results are interesting - Thx Doushi. Perrin and Crafty at 1322 is ridiculous.

I was also contemplating individual versus team performance today, but found the highest rating achieved to be a more reliable indicator. It factors out those who gave up. I wonder if the correlation will be closer that way.

I don't really agree with this as my 2vs2 team is much better than I am in 1vs1, while my teammate is ranked way below me. The reason is that I/we are just much better in 2vs2 than in 1vs1. At this moment, the result may be only 53%, but there has been a time when our rating was less than 1350 and 1650, while our 2vs2 rating was 1750.

Obviously, good 1vs1 players make good 2vs2 players, but there still is quite a difference.
