Should work, if the basic wage covers basic needs, that'll encourage people to get employed once higher-paying jobs appear to get a little bonus spending money, allow people to work at whatever wage they want to, and resolve a major part of the minimum wage, welfare, and other arguments over this issue, and you would technically always have all non-retirees employed, or maybe them to a lesser degree, who could produce things.

I am of the view that there should be no minimum wage. Poor people with no skills should be payed accordingly. If you can't find a job, join the army.

Workers, masons and farmers should not be paid at all! Pay them one penny for 12 hours of work for the ones building roads, building houses, building infrastructures, feeding the world, creating real value such as workers in factories! At the meantime, the ones speculating in finance, politicians telling lies and not creating any actual wealth at all should be the ones earning millions! Welcome back to the 19th century!

If there were some social improvements through these last 200 years, it is for some reasons. Advocating that people should not be paid at all is backward because no min wage would ultimately lead to abuses, if there is no labor law defending the poorest/lowest ones. I believe you are quite naive to think no abuses would emerge from it.

But anyway people working whereas not paid at all already exist: one example interns or trainees (many abuses are reported each days about companies hiring trainees from college to avoid paying people, I can talk about that matter since I completed two non paid internships and works currently in one low paid student job), I bet you never worked of your life Major so it is perhaps why you are quite naive in people's benevolence in the "world of work". We could discuss about it once you have enough knowledge about it and once you have your first experiences at work.

Again a simplistic view of the reality of the work's world. We are no longer in a time of full employment, economic perspective are extremely bad, in some countries you cannot find any other job, even for the lowest jobs you can find, competition is high, and getting higher each year.

No ones going to pay you nothing, and if they do you won't get that job. Stop being dumb, and saying everything is too complicated to question. The minimum wage is horrible for folk, and keeps them unemployed because no one will pay them for work that produces less than they're being paid.
