Ever since I got into the top 28 in the 2v2 ladder, I've been picking up 1,000+ points per day based on my rank. Since I've never run into this before, I'm wondering if this is based on a hard coded rank (let's say rank 30 or higher) or is it a percentage thing? (be in the top 33% of any ladder)

Top 30 gets points.

The higher rank the more points.

"The 1v1 and 2v2 ladders award points every 24 hours to each player that holds a rank of 30 or better. The seasonal ladder awards points at the end of each season to each player that holds a rank of 30 or better.
They award points based on this formula: (31 – rank) ^ 3 * 0.6 + 1000
The seasonal ladder additionally multiplies the result of this formula by the number of days in the season."
