Why have Grand Duke Nicholas of Russia asked for Romanian help in the Russo-Turkish war of 1877?

There are a couple reasons, I suppose.

1. Romania didn't like the Ottoman Empire. It declared independence from it in 1877.

2. The Danube River.

3. The Ottoman Empire was heavily fortified on the Black Sea and therefore had control of it. The Danube River is Romania's southern border and flows into the Black Sea. Having access to the Danube would be paramount to Russia's victory.

4. One would get all the allies one could, even if the war could be won alone.

Russians were already using Romania to cross their troops to Otoman Empire, after the Livadia accord in 1876

Because the Siege of Plevna. The Russians did not have enough troops to take the key strategic city because they had failed in two attacks so they asked the Romanians to provide extra troops.
