Also why do two liberals who aren't going to vote in Republican primaries care about this post? Go back to reading The Nation or watching MSNBC.
I don't read The Nation or watch MSNBC, although now I'm curious as to why you're making that assumption. Maybe you only pay attention to sources that agree with you and think everyone else does the same? Hope not.
It's a big world out there, Sandeep. Turns out not everyone who disagrees with you is irrational or ignorant. Crazy, huh?
On that note, though, I think Trump is trashed too much. He's a populist candidate- in some ways a modern William Jennings Bryan (with some semi-unworkable policies that some economically/politically disenfranchised groups really love)- but I think we're going to see his influence on American politics in the next few elections and eventually watch them define a new mainstream in the Republican party.
I'd personally be totally fine with a Trump presidency; if we survived Bush, we'll easily survive Trump when it comes to foreign policy. Economically, well, he likely has the connections to pull in good advisors. He definitely appeals to a lot of people- especially in the working class- and, like people say, it's nice to hear someone speak up about what a lot of people think everyone's been feeling all along.
