I've got an idea for new warlight features related to a capital and posted them on warlight uservoice (Some of these ideas are inspired on a few things I've read and games I played sorry, but I don't remember the authors of these...):

"You should add a capital setting as option map creators can choose. This setting can either apply to normal or diplomacy games.

Possible features related (creators could choose some of them):

1. Base income comes from the capital, if you lose it, your base income goes to zero.

2. Losing your capital makes you lose the game.

3. Change the location of your capital card

4. Deployment limited to areas connected to your capital. That's probably the better feature this capital could provide, because:

a) That's perfect to prevent attacks with a huge stacks in order to break ennemy bonuses regardless to the protection of your conquered land.
b) It would also force players to defend their supply line, and encourage encirclement and front formation tactics (perhaps also improving the multi-attack setting)
c) It could provide also another use for the airlift card in order to supply the encircled units
d) For map creators, ports, airports, or any other long range connections in maps connected to far away lands could perfect serve this feature as supply bridges and thus become essential targets for bombs and other attacks.

5. Non connected to the capital units may either get "crazy" and start beheaving like AI's or are unable to move for lack of command from it's generals."

If you believe this idea is good and could be implemented in warlight, please vote:

I'm looking for reviews also!

You can do this...

Custom scenario with starts in certain castles or whatever, make them have a high income. Put your commander there and make a rule that he is not allowed to move from there.

Done.

As Fleece said, this can be done with the current settings; heres how to do each.

1. Base income comes from the capital, if you lose it, your base income goes to zero.

Make base income 0, and put the capital in a space that has its own bonus (Many maps having cities like this). Edit the bonus to be whatever income you want.

2. Losing your capital makes you lose the game.

Put commander in it and make a rule that they can't move.

3. Change the location of your capital card

Have multiple cities have equal income that would be the "Base" income and just move the commander from one to another. (With an airlift, if you can do that with commanders)

I actually have made a map with this rule; people tend to follow it if they read it and if they follow any rule.

5. Non connected to the capital units may either get "crazy" and start behaving like AI's or are unable to move for lack of command from it's generals."

Again, I've played many games where units that are encircled can't move just with the rules.

While this is a cool idea, Fizzer will probably work on other things that cannot simply be made using rules and game settings.

From what I understand you can airlift commanders, so that would work perfectly :)

I almost want to make this now...! :D

I would personally say that cut off areas act like war-time "pockets" ie. They can function but only independently :)

Maybe allow aiflifting to and from pockets only, but no deployment. Would there be other income on the map other than just the castles or "cities" ?

What's a good map for this?

I've done games like this on the Dresden map. It was lots of fun!

I didn't make any special rules, just used local deployment + high values for the "headquarters".

In theory, a player could keep playing after losing his capital, but almost everyone who lost theirs surrendered immediately. (I was actually disappointed by that.)

That's actually just a feature that could enforce these rules and I think would be very fun.

Oh, and if you guys wanna create a game with these settings I would most certainly join it =). I once played a WW1 game where it was really challenging with the huge defense value. It could be fun to do a WW2 one in europe huge.
