When we look at stuff from the 50's and 60's, we find it ridiculously cliche and corny. We mock the culture they had back then.

How do you think we'll explain the current culture to our children/grandchildren?

Example:
"Say Daddy, what kind of music was popular when you were my age?"
"Well, there was a lot of pop music. Actual rap was starting to die out, and there was also mixing a bunch of music tapes and calling it a remix-"
"And was it really considered a cool dance move to punch the air and call it a whip?"
"Yes, dear."
"Your generation's weird. I'm glad we listen to real music."

you're wrong, many young people still listen to 50 and 60s, the music I wouldn't say was better but it had more variety. Also pop was back in the 50s. Pop music currently has darker themes than before and a much slower tempo.

The name of this thread is very misleading. Culture doesn't equal music.

It's scientifically proven that music before 2000 had much more variety, different tunings and diverse chord structures.

If you want good, modern music try Arctic Monkeys. Alice in Chains is solid too. The weeknd actually has some solid vocal work.

As far as "whip" culture, there are dumber things.
