Who else here thinks that leveling up effectively ends at level 52 sucks? I think that the levels brought a new dimension to an otherwise great game. I realize that that there are just so many extra features that can be added to Warlight, but why the jump from ~100k points per level to 700k+ points per level?
It makes sense to slow down at some point. Fizzer decided to do that at the point where new features were no longer appearing. Higher levels than 52 only show your dedication and maybe your skill. To that end, you don't need to hit new levels all the time. Everyone knows that hitting level 53 at the point means something. If the top players were level 60 instead, it wouldn't make any difference to what it represents. Assuming that there is a top level (100 or something?), then leaving the same requirements as from 1-52 would mean that the top players hit top level a couple of months from now and then a wall begins to form of people hitting that level. Six months in, we don't really want most of the dedicated players sitting at the top level with nothing left to gain. It takes away their ability to still level, and it makes it hard to tell skill or anything else meaningful when too many people hit max.
Instead, the greatly increased xp needed for higher levels will spread out the players and help show the truly dedicated. If going from 99 to 100 takes 10 million xp, then being level 100 would be much more meaningful than level 99, and keep each level there fairly distinct.
I still have nightmares about this ad. 3 days of Ad free was awesome. Maybe make the rest of levels based on non-members having ad-free time until Fizzer can think of new features ?
