I keep moving up the ladder without doing anything. I was only off the ladder for a few hours. Reducing it to 2 games was sufficient to stop sending me new ones for a bit (I had been running 5 simultaneous for a week and was getting overwhelmed).
Doushi could implement a maniacal plot to be numebr one forever by going to two games and taking 3 days a turn. ....Bwah hah ha.

I wonder if Shogun is an Ashigaka or a Tokugawa... We'll see soon enough! And as for me, I'd be happy to just sit on the number five or six place. I want a chance to play Doushi, though...the last time I played someone in the #1 slot, he went down to number five by the time our game ended! It didn't net me as many points as I'd have liked...

even if you beat him before he went down, you would have went down as well. It only takes in account their final rating at this point in time

Waya - My great-great-great-grandfather served the Tokugawa. That doesn't really matter, as I'll be the bloodiest, most aggressively warlike Shogun anyone has every known!
Ruthless - Thanks!
Now that I'm off the provisional list, it appears I am more easily attracting the top opponents! My newest opponent is Impaller!
Prepare for combat, Doushi! Soon you will face my armies! It has to be soon, because I don't think my luck can hold out much longer, and I'll soon be at a rank that doesn't easily get a battle against #1.

It is frustrating climbing this thing. Mostly because players with 0-3 losses are still dominating the top 10. I doubt that will hold through 50 or 100 games. You're paying the price for being overly prolific.

Yeah, I'm discovering that playing more games is a downside to keeping a high ladder place. My record is something like 46-7, but that ends up being a lot worse than 9-1 or what have you.

Yeah, time to tone down the games which is something I didn't want to do because I like playing the ladder games. But all it does is give me a chance to lose my top 10 (which i'm teetering on). Winning does nothing for me now because i'll only go up maybe 10 at a time but a loss drops me down. Kind of sucks that the top 10 has to play the ladder like this. The only time the top 10 changes is if someone gets upset by a rank in the 15-45's and not when the top 10 battles each other.

I wish there was weight on your win/loss % (maybe there is and people some people haven't played as much) and also the amount of wins

Ruthless - It looks to me like you haven't played anyone with a higher rating than you in a while. Seems to me that playing only lower ranked players is risk with little reward.
I'm very fortunate that I'm currently matched with Duke and Impaller. The wins versus you and bostonfred, both high-ranked players, are what got me into the top 10.

I think the problem is that I've faced everyone on the top 10 besides Doushi...only winning 2 of those :/
I think what the system is doing now is letting me go through everyone a second time now but it seemed to snake so the people I played last, i'm playing them first now (for the second time). So maybe after a couple more games i can get 2nd shots against the top 10

I've played the whole top ten, then went back through the toughest of the top ten a second time, then played all the new additions to the top ten as soon as they got there. This is a gauntlet and a half.

My wife just had a baby, and I had a couple games I was losing that I finally surrendered in, so I just dropped ou of the top five. But I'm playing a few games against top players in games where I'm pretty sure I'm way ahead, and the moves are coming slower and slower. That's an unfortunate consequence of these ladder games - it seems like nobody wants to lose their ranking so they slow things way down.

CONGRATS ON BABY! I hope wife and baby are healthy and recovering well. Was that your first?
I'm guilty of that. In my losses to Imp and Ruthless I played my last one or two turns at close to the 3 day mark. I was provisional so it had nothing to do with rank. I just didn't want to face the music.

Ruthless lost 16 out of his first 50 games -- a 68% win percentage. And he's in the top 10. The ladder is fair.
