The Diplomacy community, one of the largest on warlight is in need of a World Nations 2015, The Old World Nations is good but the idea is that we expand the map to have more bonuses, Such as Breaking big bonuses and expand the island and connectivity of the world, and all capital cities of all nations should be a territory, That way the game is expanded in terms of warfare and what strategies you could use to get the upper hand, in a much bigger world , a map where Diplomacy will involve. Imagine diplos of 40 Plus people. Im asking top map makers to make a truly amazing map but just adding and splitting territories to include a more diverse world.

No. The World Diplomacy 2012 and 2014 are mostly the same, they still both are super unrealistic. + means needs more income/territories, - means less.

The 10 most powerful countries:

China+
America-
India+
Japan++
Brazil ok
Russia---
Germany++
Nigeria++
Britain--
France--

Japan and Russia have the biggest problems by far, out of the top 10. South Korea/Canada are also very under/overvalued.

So, the question is how do you define a country's military potential after being occupied.
I agree that America is strong and should have a good income at the start, but I am not sure how many military recoures you can get after you conquer it...

Use high base and occupying more territories will be less significant to your income.

Brazil ok

Definetely not... It needs a serious increase in territories. Most of South America does.

Russia---

Russia is pretty good as-is. And that's cause it's territories occupy a lot of space compared to USA or China.

~~~
I think a new World Nations map would be kinda cool, but not much bigger not to change gameplay much.
Some things that need to change:
>Bigger island chains
>Splitting Urumqi
>Splitting Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Brazil and Argentina more (Chile can be split in ~4, Bolivia in 2, Peru in 3~4 and coastal Brazil could have more territories)
>Changing "Northern/Southern Algiers" to "Mediterranean/Saharan Algeria"
>Splitting Morocco
>Splitting Germany, Romania, Austria, Poland and Ukraine better
>Splitting Riyadh, Islamabad, Tehran and Delhi in 2 each
>Getting rid of enclaved/chokepointed territories (Tianjin/Brunei/Kuala Lumpur - 2014 already removed some of the enclaves in the 2012 version like Buenos Aires and Mecca)
>Definetely buffing Japan... Why is it so darn weak anyway?
I think South America is about right. The territories get bigger and bigger the more in the forest, as should be.
Russia is pretty good as-is. And that's cause it's territories occupy a lot of space compared to USA or China.
Russia is the third most powerful country in World Nations 2012; more powerful than India (considerably), Japan (very much), and Brazil (significantly) - it needs a drastic decrease. There are three ways to solve: 1. Make the territories worth less, negate some if must, 2. Make territories bigger and less, 3. cartogramise it. My suggestions:
>Neater aesthetic
>Better territory names
Asia:
>Split China
>Split Uttar Pradesh
>Split Tokyo area
>Split Pakistan (one territory? For a country more populous than Russia, one territory?)
>Merge Kazakhstan
>Merge some territories in Siberia
>Merge Indonesia except Java
>Merge Armenia, Georgia, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Brunei, East Timor
Africa:
>Split Nile Delta area
>Split south Nigeria
>Merge Libya, Chad, Niger, Mauretania, Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Benin, Togo, Bangui, Eq. Guinea, Gabon, Congo (both), East African horn (except Kenya), South Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia, Botswaana, Namibia, Mozambique, Malawi, Réunion, Swaziland, Lesotho, Cameroon, Cabo Verde
Europe:
>Merge north Russia, Kaliningrad
>Merge north Finland
>Merge Norway
>Merge all Ireland
>Merge Odesa
>Merge Sicilia and Sardinnia
>Merge Shetland
>Merge Madeira and Açores
>Merge Baltic countries, Cyprus, Moldova, Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Albania
>Merge Faeroe, Iceland
North America:
>Merge Canada
>Merge Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Bahamas, Jamaica
South America:
>Merge Guyanas, no significant problems
Oceania:
>Merge Australia
>Merge New Zealand
>Merge Papua New Guinea
Merge countries? Don't think it's a good idea, Xapy.
Though I agree in some points.
Better territory names - ++. I'm seriously tired of seeing "Krakau" -.-
I completely agree with splitting Urumqi, this territory is horrenduously overpowered and a nightmare for hosts.
>Splitting Germany, Romania, Austria, Poland and Ukraine better
>Splitting Riyadh, Islamabad, Tehran and Delhi in 2 each
Definitely agree with both of them. Romania should have 2-3 territories (Transylvania, Wallachia and Moldova), Poland's split is awful (some people like to pretend the territory named Poznan is "Prussia" and it has indeed a big number of territories that were once in Prussia, but then again, it's a bit too big if you ask me. Poland should have 4-5 territories (Mazovia, Greater Poland, Lesser Poland, Pomerania and Silesia). In Germany, Ruhrpott should be divided (North/South?) and more details certainly wouldn't hurt. As for Austria... I personally find it OK enough.
Hungary should also be splitted (west/east) and so should Serbia (North/South).
Dunno about S. America so gonna just stay quiet on that matter.
The world nations maps should remain similar to each other with each country being independent. many of Xapy's suggestions would mean removing countries which is against the idea of the map. Also, Xapy was looking at 2012 when the map which needs improving is 2014
What would be nice to have changed:
-Merge Madagascar
-Make Bhutan independent
-Split Urumqi
-Split Chile
-Split Riyadh
-Merge Far East Russia
-Merge San Felix, San Ambrosio and Robinson Crusoe.
-Split Ruhrpott
- Raise value of Japan
-Split South Korea
-Split Delhi
-Make Kochi and Madurai territories bigger (like rest of India)
-Raise value of Peru
-Split South Brazil more
-Merge Maritimes and Prince Edward Island
-Split Tehran
-Split Islamabad
-Make Krakau border Czech
-Change Swedish borders
-Correct Alaska's borders
-Merge Indonesia a little
-Split Ethiopia
-Fix Yemen's names.
I agree with Zephyrum and Death, Big territories can be split into 2 say west and east sakha, but im no map creator so I don't know the challenges map enhancements posed, as for a Africa shall as well be split some nations shall be split by north and south, or east and west , north east south west etc , s combination to make the world more "complex", as for income and all diplomacy related challenges that is left up to us custom scenario makers' . we are just giving ideas that can make the final product much better than the current world nations, Canada shall be expanded and or split to include let's say north and south Quebec (with the north not touching the us mainland ( this creates depth, meaning longer war campaigns, each Territory split shall be split in a way that creates depth in strategy'
Coastal Brazil is just too merged up. Aside from "Eastern Brazil" one (which is basically a lot of states where slavery and a noob desert run through), it should be better split. Several states of much higher importance are "engulfed" such as Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Paraná and Santa Catarina.
In addition, Chile is just... nope. It definetely deserves a split.
Argentina, Ecuador, Columbia and Venezuela are good as-is. Bolivia and Peru could use a few changes.
Small but not too small nations like those Central America and Balkans shall be split, for example El Salvador is too small to split but Guatemala and Honduras are not so those could be split in two' north and south Guatemala, and east and west Honduras , so for Balkans. Serbia could be split into two, while Romania into 3 wether you want to name regions base on real world regions is up to you, as for an island chain more islands need to be added in the pacific.
In overall let's say and extra 100 territories is perfect. My original times twice as I start thinking about it. Also when I say split a nation I don't mean just adding a straight line, you could be creative and make it seem like a realistic border with slight swerves etc
I don't mean merge it all into one territory, I'm saying to merge it more, make it less total territories.
The world nations maps should remain similar to each other with each country being independent. many of Xapy's suggestions would mean removing countries which is against the idea of the map.
I don't know where you're getting "the idea of the map" but many independent countries are not shown. The countries I put are all pretty insignificant and can be split.
In addition, Chile is just... nope. It definetely deserves a split.
Chile much less deserves a split - it's a weak-ish power, and doesn't connect to too many territories. Same with Bolivia and Peru.
Small but not too small nations like those Central America and Balkans shall be split, for example El Salvador is too small to split but Guatemala and Honduras are not so those could be split in two' north and south Guatemala, and east and west Honduras , so for Balkans.
Absolutely not. These are on the edge of inclusion of "ok" as is - they're really close to me wanting to merge many of them. Split El Salvador, not Guatemala - it has more population. These are tiny, insignificant countries; the only country that most needs splitting that you listed is by far Romania, but not really even that.
as for an island chain more islands need to be added in the pacific.
More useless, insignificant islands? This is one of the things I hated about 2014. More absolutely useless territories.
As weird as that might look, I would disconnect Urumqi from -stan countries. It's way too easy to go in every direction possible from there which don't seem too natural for this territory.
Many territories have straight-lined borders, they need more real borders.
Siberia should be worth much less, it's basically white desert.
>China+
You can't be serious. China is OP in 2012 and 2014 to the max. China shouldn't even come close to the US because they don't even come close to the US in military strength. China's power is so fucking overrated in every game because people think population = strength when it really doesn't. If bonuses = military power (which they should - more realistic) then the US should have a strong lead, followed by Russia and then China.
Some changes I'm thinking of (that haven't been said yet):
+Svalbard
-Split California into two (maybe three) California has a huge economy and owning it should make you very powerful.
Tbh, a good update doesn't need 100 new territories. At best, 30 new ones.
Romania, Greece and some of the balkans need to split up better. Croatia could use a split, havng dalmatia separate from the rest of croatia would be good on many scenarios.
Urumqi should be split in two to nerf it's amazing expansion power.
Coastal Brazil needs some more states.
Chile needs to be split because it's just uttely underpowered for what Chile actually is. It's income should be at least comparable to northern SA countries.
South Africa and Nigeria could have like ~6 territories each.
Australia and Canada could use a few new ones, too.
Germany should split Ruhrpott and Hamburg in two, each.
Portugal can also get it's own split, in Lisbon and Porto.
India could have Delhi and Uttar Pradesh split.
Malaysia should be better set so Kuala Lumpur and Brunei aren't stuck. Same for China's Tianjin.
Riyadh and Islamabad DESPARETELY need to split. Pakistan is too weak and Riyadh is overly gigantic...
California could use a split, economically it's about as powerful as Italy.
Castle Bravo, bonuses should not be based on military strength. In real life, you can't build new armies quicker because you already have a strong army. You can build new armies quicker because you have a high population and a strong economy. Existing military strength can be shown in a custom scenario by setting the number of armies in a province higher. Also, 100 new territories is way too much, should be 30 new at max. Xapy, can you give some examples of countries which aren't represented (other than island nations and microstates).
Over 1 million folk
Somaliland
Donetsk and Luhansk (not really the mapmaker's fault; didn't gain independence until early 2014)
Levant
Puntland (not precisely a country but should certainly be made its own territory)
Palestine
Hong Kong-Macau (same as Puntland)
Qatar
Gambia
Guinea-Bissau
Kosova
Bahrain
Trinidad
Over 10 000 KM^2
Artsakh
Vanuatu
Fiji/New Caledonia (separation)
Solomon Islands
Sikkim (incorporation into India, not Bhutan; and so that India could connect to east territories)
Svalbard (autonomy)
Sahrawi/Morocco's south (separation)
Antarctica (weird case)
Somaliland, Puntland, Hong Kong-Macau, Svalbard are autonomous, not independent.
Levant isn't a country- I'm not sure where you got that from.
Donetsk and Luhansk, Palestine are not internationally recognized as independent states.
Vanuatu, Fiji/New Caledonia, Bahrain and Trinidad and Tobago are island states.
Artsakh does not exist today.
Sahrawi is represented on the map.
Antarctica doesn't really count for various reasons.
The others should be represented (as well as Bhutan)
