The US wouldn't split like this (not that it would split, anyway). If anything, we'd get a couple of states that vote for secession, wouldn't be able to support themselves for more than a couple generations, and rejoin. Hawaii could do fine as long as it would join another country, but it wouldn't. Hawaii was its own land before US Imperialism. Alaska would rather join Canada than Russia, and I guess would also do fine, assuming Canada wants Alaska.

Those predictions don't make sense and don't seem to be based on any cultural disparities. I don't think this Russian professor analyzed any worthwhile data beyond geographic proximity and cultural stereotypes (South Carolina and Rhode Island should never be in the same cultural grouping, anyway).

To me it seems like this 'Russian Professor' based his ideas off of geography and nothing else. Political opinions do not seem to be factored in very well, and neither is culture.

What are you guys talking about? Everyone knows that California and Arizona are super similar politically. Not to mention all those states around Texas, I'm sure that when they're in need, Mexico will be the first country they turn to.

America is pretty uniform in culture, English ethnicity 80%<; but rest I agree with.

Some 'Russian professors' believe in mad things. Some call them pioneers, other call them crackpots.

There are so many things wrong with that map. If the U.S splits, it'll likely be between the liberal states and the conservative states. I don't see any pattern with this except for geography.

South Carolina would never get along with the New England states.
Arizona and Utah are so incompatible with California it's not even funny.
As someone who's in the area I can tell you there's no alliance between Missouri and Illinois happening in a civil war situation.

The only grouping here that would make sense is the Texas Republic if you took away New Mexico.

Also, Canada has a smaller Population and Military, and less crucial resources.
