I've been thinking a lot lately of new features that Fizzer could consider adding to the game in future updates that would give us more variety on an already great game.
One of my ideas is to have a "Reverse Territory Selection" option that the game creator could include in their game if they wanted to.
If this option were turned on (or selected), then on the territory selection screen, where you make your selections, you're not selecting for you, but rather for your opponent. Instead of picking the best spots, you're now trying to pick the worst spots. The strategy would be fun, because the best player at working his way out of a hole would thrive in the long run.
The skill element still plays a gigantic role with this option turned on. The better players will still win out in the long run, it just adds a curve ball into the mix on how to think about the game and test your abilities.
I'm not sure if it would work well in huge games or not, but it would definitely be a cool/new/interesting twist to 1v1 games, or maybe a Seasonal Ladder some day. I'd love to get thoughts on this, or tweaks to the idea.
