I don't approve of such high level of nationalism, just to clear some things up from the neutral countrian:
In short, Martian sounds moderately proud and kind of dumb, but curious.
Opposing commenter sounds very nationalist and rude.
America
did fight (and lose against) Canada, since it was part of British land and there was opposition. Your grounding would be saying that Belarus did not fight in World War 2, or that Libya did not fight in the same war.

Well, America should have stayed part of Britain, in my opinion, but my opinion is generally for union anyway.

Well, the thing is: Americans do the same thing. 1/3 Americans online think Russia is still in evil communism and are trying to take over the world, making it dirt and a sad life for Americans. I've met some folk who think World War 2 was about how America gave the decisive defeat to the Soviets. When folk are talking in other tongues and Americans (not limited to, though, often not even native English speakers do this) just expect everyone to "speak English". Americans were the first to say "We saved Europe's arse. Twice. You're welcome." and just classify evidence otherwise as "statistics porn".
