Good, now let's get back to the topic of the thread:

Who's the best 1v1 active strategic player?

There is no way to answer the original question, since there are too many variables that remain unknown:

- RT Ladder: maybe 4-5 players
- 1v1 Ladder: maybe 5-10 players
- Seasonal Ladders: Not especially useful, since few top level players play the same seasons together.
- Top LD players: Who knows? I know it isn't Szeweningen and Gnuffone.
- Top MA players: Who knows?
- Top 1v1 players with a mitt full of cards or with unorthodox settings?
- Top players at autopicking settings?

I was waiting on you to ask those questions for so Long! Finally it pays out. I was practising on your greece template that combines ALL of them! Light fog, LD, Auto Distribution! feel free for challenging me on this, but i promise: you'll lose cause i'm the best

Haha. That template is fun. Even Szeweningen liked it, despite losing all the time.

Sometimes you just need to employ alternate strategies...

Kasse84 would be the reason for my 1v1 stats
I started playing 10games a week of his imperium romanum when I was in lvl28 or so
And ended up beating him for the first time in lvl49 that day was where I got a smile to my face from achieving something great in WL
Also I considered him as my teacher who taught me everything needed to know on the guiroma template

This thread is irrelevant. WL has been updated to slot machines. Insert coin, be the machine.

it would be a pain, but perhaps the top overall 1v1 player could be determined, if you took the most strategic settings, or most major variables, and figured out a top group for each. if it is possible to rank players in individual settings or templates, then you could just see who shows up the most/highest?

if you try to go off one template, then you can leave out players who are good at the rest instead :P

This is why I think a MD ladder in which each turn is timed (5 minutes per turn) would be a cool idea. You have three days to take your turn. But once you click "Start," you have only five minutes to view the last turn, view history, and make your moves. If you can't do that in 5 minutes, you are booted and lose.

Currently, MD games are multiday thinking for some players and RT thinking for others. If I take my turn or make picks in 5 minutes and you do it in 3 days after analyzing and reanalyzing the board, does this make you better?
+10000

I am in the same boat
Ok, not same, only similar, because Gui has a battleship and mine is only a drifter (but what a drifter!) :P

But yes, most of the time I have only few minutes to play Warlight (or I have but simple lazy to think deep :P ) so I am suck when I spend 5 mins/turns while my opponents more in a MD game. And I cannot play on RT ladder neither because very rare when I have long enough time to play even 1 game...

So Gui's idea would be perfect for me too (anyway not 100% perfect, because if somebody wants, still can analyze the game from screenshots :O )

But back to the topic, I think if I would have more time to play Warlight and I wouldn't be so lazy to think, and if I would play always in a focused way, and I would be higher a bit and my eyes would be more browner, well, then I am sure I would be the best Warlight player ever :P
