Some people collect stamps, some collect coins, Blitz collects alts. Don't judge our hobbies please.

Jefferspin: sorry :p

TBest: on 2v2 Fizzer has often mentioned publically that it's acceptable to play with an alt if you're on same team. I still think it's kind of lame, giving you some advantages on some situations, but it's not as serious as alts in 1v1 ladder imho.

mod:
i didn't Play vs desi, i have no other Advantage in playing with desi. i didn't "operate one WarLight account in a way that gave me an advantage in a game, tournament or ladder."

it doesn't matter if you played against yourself or not, you still influence the ratings and rankings of all others in the ladder in ways that people without multiple accounts cannot do anything against.

Well, I am playing with my alt on 2v2 ladder on the same team. I think it is a disadvantage personally (nobody to bounce ideas off of). I mean I can take top 5 with a clan mate to discuss things with, but by myself I might not crack top 10.

If he wants to ban that, then I will stop. But that is the only reason I bought my 2nd membership was to see how well I could do on the ladder by myself.

ok PS you want to believe i did Play with desi to get an Advantage in the realtime ladder. so be it. i don't know why it would matter if your Rating is 0.5points higher or lower, or everybodys Points are diminished by 0.5 but ok. i destroyed the purest of all ladders with my evil alt account.

I don't think MOD did anything shady, but I do think only one account should be active on a 1v1 ladder at a time. There are possibilities to do shady things, even if he did not.

k PS you want to believe i did Play with desi to get an Advantage in the realtime ladder.

two chances are more than one, using 2 accounts so it's advantage itself, nothing more has to be done.
I don't say that you wouldn't get as high as you are without using 2 accounts, but saying that it's not adavantage is pure bullshit to me.

Similar things in 1v1 ladder - even if not playing 2 accounts simultanously there, one can try to do another ladder run without waiting for earlier games to expire. That's advantage too.

I think in this thread playing with 2 separate accounts on the rt or 1v1 ladder is being portrayed as very similar as playing with 2 separate accounts in a 1v1 tournament. I agree 100% that playing with 2 separate accounts in a tournament is unfair unless it is an agreed premise. However I do not feel that the same should apply to ladders. The reason I feel it is unfair in a tournament is because once you lose once (or twice in DE) you are out for good. And the tournament ends once every player bar one has lost once (or twice). This means that having 2 chances at not losing twice gives you better odds than everyone else for winning. A side note is that you cannot prevent yourself from playing on the 2 accounts depending on what the bracket is.
I feel this in not the case for the ladders - where you can lose as many times as you want and keep going for a high rating (although it would make it harder) and where "winning" is not as clear cut. In a tournament winning would be coming first, and then for the rest of time you are the player who won that tournament and unless revoked by Fizzer for cheating then it stays that way. In ladders it is not clear what winning is - MoD is just playing so he can have games, but he has decided that since his main account has a higher rating than desi he would rather preserve his main account and (maybe, I'm just hypothesising here) play more lackadaisically, not caring as much if he wins or not, just relaxing and enjoying himself. Whereas were he playing with his main he would care more about winning so it wouldn't be as relaxed and a bit stressful.

I just find it difficult to grasp why people are so fussed about this - I'm trying to see it from both sides but I can't...

@ps, I know, hence the exception.

@mod, If you had intentionally manipulated the ladder by your two accounts you would (likely) not have gotten a warning. A warning is after all the mildest form of "reaction" Fizzer has. The warning serves to inform you that it is against the rules more then anything, as the goal is to change the warned players behavior.

Noone here is accusing you of "manipulating" the ladder. Their point is that by having two accounts on the ladder, you have the possibility of doing so. Also Krzychu's point of "two chances" is part of the problem with multiple accounts, that are not on the same team.

i'm not saying you yourself used your alt to work the ladder to your benefit. i don't think you're an ego cheater like gnuffone. but i can't accept you not seeing how others can easily do so with their alts. and how others who do not have alts are being hurt by that in ranking and rating.

edit: also, what kzyhoo said.

hedja: realtime ladder is supposed to rank how you evolve and hold your rating through time. if you just want relaxed games you can create non ranked games or tournaments in those settings and invite friends.

doing a "fresh run to play more relaxed without threatening your rank" is holding on to your top ranking while practising some more, this goes against the concept of seeing how you hold in your rating.

and while doing that "new run" you could also be causing other folks (direct competitors to your main account) rating to go down while you climb up, by surprising them with a newb account playing like a pro when they least expect.
