is it only me or do people get very upset whent he same high skill cap players hose many games and have such skill that it is very hard to beat them. essentially spending any money of the games becomes a 1 sided loss of funds and outrages me severly. i dont have the experience to beat super high leve players but the onyl games out there are those who have played forever and know every move i will make before i make them.

CAN THIS NOT BE FIXED....

Just a heads up: scroll down on the Dashboard until you see "Open Games" or just go to https://warlight.net/Multiplayer/OpenGames

Most of the games are actually free-to-play. You can get better at them over time, and then come in on the Coin Games (which have no gameplay differences whatsoever) and start winning coins there.

The new Dashboard design just makes it a bit tougher to realize that until you scroll down.

If you have AdBlock on your browser, click on the extension icon, "Block an Element," and then click on the "Promoted Games" table. Now, until you remove it, Coin Games aren't going to be on your Dashboard ever again and you can go straight to the free games.

EDIT: But be careful with AdBlock because WarLight gives you a points penalty for it. You want to disable it for the in-game ads themselves so it can't tell that you've got AdBlock working to fix your Dashboard.

Looking at his games statistics, I believe he knows that not all games are paid.
The thing is the people who play coin games are always the same, and ocasionally a couple of newbs.

^ Well, the system is designed that way.

Even if Fizzer were to not take a 10-20% cut from each coin game, a player would still need to win over 50% of their games to make coins. So, over time, the coin game system keeps trimming the players off at the bottom (either due to boredom or running out of coins) + making it tougher to get in because the competitive field constantly gets better (unless the best players keep quitting for some reason at the same rate as the worst, balancing the field). Two solutions to this- a lottery-style template (looking at you, "Small Earth 1v1") and recruiting new WL players to play coin games- are also unsustainable, the former because it just brings things back to 50% (and so the trimming continues) and the latter because, as this post notes, new players are decreasingly likely to be competitive enough to stay within the system as the system goes on.

So coin games don't seem like a sustainable source of revenue to me unless there's enough WL players who want to keep throwing money at the system even as they know they'll lose it. There's probably a good number of people who'll do this in the short term- e.g., buy like 1000-10000 coins- but they'll just burn through it eventually and then it becomes a question of whether they'll buy again after losing it all.

What exactly is this fool looking for? To have a coin game reserved for crappy players? If you don't want to constantly lose games there is one easy solution... GET BETTER

Hmm I wish the Recent Games section were bigger (say 200-300 games, at least) and could be queried using the API. That way, one could take the 1v1 Coin Games from that page and find the average peak 1v1 ladder rating of players that aren't losing coins in the system and see if it increases over time.

That's true. The "tiering" aspect of the games (some of them have more competitive pools) allows players to jump up/down when they perform significantly better or worse than 0 gain/0 loss.

Bear in mind that the 5/10 coin games have a prereq requiring players have fewer than 1000 coins. Thus, the more successful players will eventually be forced to move up to the 80-coin games (where they will likely lose their coins and be bounced back to the 5/10 coin games...)

Would be nice if we could actually analyze all of this. If the completed coin games in, say, the past 24h were all visible under Recent Games, we'd be able to see exactly what's happening with the player pool. Right now we're just able to make estimations based on the little data we have (leaderboard, Recent Games sorted by some unspecified algorithm, our own observations).

I see where you're coming from. I started a few months ago and tried a few low stakes coin games in the beginning. Now I mostly just play free games. There's no way to regulate that though. Higher skilled players can always just create a new account and start from level 1. It's always a gamble. You just have to get really good and then just hope you're better than the other player.

Until warlight grows its playerbase i dont see a way to effectively help this. Since the 1000 coin plus thing only helps slightly.

Coin games just doesnt have enough players playing the bigger coin games since you will just keep going against the same players which dominate them (krzychu for example). So decent/good players will play mainly 10 coin games otherwise might as well chuck money away.

Pretty much like most things, only gamble on it if you're good at it. Or play small earth, if you can make the best 2/3 picks under 3 seconds you should win.

Putting tiers into coin games would be bad IMO.

Imagine you are a great player. You are forced to play other great players to earn coins while noobs get to play other noobs. Does that seem fair? The good players would simply stop playing coin games because they can't be expected to win at a high enough rate to overcome the rake. Basically, you'd kill coin games.

On top of that, how would you even determine skill level of people to tier anyway? Coin amounts? That is not a measure of skill really. Suppose you have the 'best' player on WL with only 100 coins because they never used them.

My suggestion is don't play coin games until you expand your skills. Why risk them when you are still growing as a player?

The 80 coin small earth is fairly profitable even if you're not a great nor fast player. Why? Recently I've been playing it a lot and I've noticed a fair of matches I get are against newbs throwing in the 100 coins they get from fizzer. Ocasionally I play a couple of players who manage to get into the leaderboard but probably don't get much profit from the template and the other games are against the "sharks", the really good players.
So basically, you can play with people who can be newbs or really good players, it just depends on when you play I guess.

They're already tiered in a way. More competitive players (e.g., Krzychu) probably aren't gonna be playing for less than 80 coins. Weak players probably aren't gonna play for more than 80.
