Hello dear Warlight community. After 1.5 months of playing this wonderful game I decided to make a map myself of my dear hometown Uppsala, Sweden.

https://www.warlight.net/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=47024

I would love any feedback I can get, I know that a lot of you are really good map makers, teach me how to do it better and more beautiful!

Should I change the color of the text?
Should I remove the trees?
Is it any bonuses that I need to change to better balance it?
Should I add superbonuses?

Regards, Isak

:) I was looking at the map not bad for a first tryer!

Not a map expert.

No point in adding trees if the background is going to black. It doesn't mix well. Doesn't look right to me.

This won't be a strategic map. As there is no Chokepoints in the map. And almost every territory borders just 1 at most 3. Isn't the map you would like for strategic playing.

Beautiful ideas, I personally love the "E4" Line... With the art line to show it. I found it really good :) and I loved the Crest showing your town and what It's famous for, I really found it touching and shows your proud of your town Uppsala.

That said It's really good for a first timer. If you improve on the sketching of the territories and keep having little ideas like the Crest of Uppsala and Including "IKEA" ;) You will be a very good map-maker.

Only Change I would like to see or what I would like to see what it would look like is the changing of the background.

Thanks for the feedback Platinum!
I'm happy for the positive words.

Do you think it looks better with grey background?

Why is a map not strategic when there are no chokepoints?
And the map HAS chokepoints, you just dont see them.

To the map: Boni are balanced, and the design looks good, only malus is that it is maybe a bit too small. Maybe you can expand the town or make certain areas (maybe the center) more detailed.
But for a first try its totally okay.

It is a rare to see new map makers and especially from a high level player.

Wishing all good luck and speed for this project. This thread needs sticky and all attention it needs to get. I will look the map tomorrow and make a good review as Mister honored warlight member platinum.

I am poor map tester.

@Isak, Much Better :)

@Cata Cauda Imagine having a strategic template on that map? It wouldn't flow properly. That's why when his map-skilling abilities improve which it will he will be able to draw better territories and make the map much more strategic.

It's a good map. Certainly not one of the best, but I feel this has one of the highest work:reward ratii maps.

I've only given it a rough look so far (no gameplay) but it seems pretty good from a strategic perspective. Found a few good chokepoints, I like the variety in income:territory ratios and the absence of 1:1 bonuses. Maybe a 5 bonus thrown in there somewhere could also add some spice.

(Where's Nathan when you need him?)

Well balanced bonuses, nice visuals, well designed road and river system, about a nice city, as a first map I think it worth five rate for me.

Great first map.

Black background looks better, it also has less overlapping bonuses. Such as bottom right circle.

It is a very good first attempt. You have made a decent map so far, with some nice little features, that give the map a certain touch. Although Im unsure about the background. I wouldnt implement those single trees or the map of sweden. Both looks disruptive. i would rather use a vectorized image from google maps of the surrounding area, instead. But this is up to you and doesnt effect the map itself.
some borderlines still look sloppy, due to too many polygon points, but this is only a minor issue.furthermore there are maybe wrong connection:

business park - shopping (right corner)
IKEA - Ica Maxi Gnista
Tunaberg - Tuna backar (depending on your map version)

At least you should avoid dead ends like:
Ulleraker, Haga, Berthaga

Thank you Ranek for the feedback!

I fixed the wrong connections, didn't see them earlier, thanks!

I'll changed the maps of sweden so it wouldn't draw the attention that much. I like it though more for the informational part than the beautiful part of it.

I tried to change to black background and I guess I think it looks better, what do you think?
