The sad thing is that several people have made valid points regarding this update but most of its defenders refuse to address said points and instead opt to insult anyone who doesn't like the update. "You're all a bunch of ungrateful brats! Stop whining and just accept everything no matter what!"

It's called voicing your concerns. If you don't like something than you have every right to speak out about it. I'll concede that some people protesting the update have crossed the line but (most of) you people defending the update haven't been much more mature with your response either.

Well, considering you guys are making this out to be a much bigger deal than it actually is.. (You calling this the biggest outcry/worst update, many people agreeing) considering that the amount of people for and against this update in this thread aren't that far apart..

Yeah, you guys are overreacting. That's fact.

I haven't seen a valid argument except for Math Wolf's in why people dislike it.

Let's face it, WarLight needs all the extra players it can get.

Several long-time players on this thread stated they had trouble even finding the open games section on the dashboard...I also had trouble. How are new players who happen to stumble upon the game, who are completely unfamiliar with its interface, going to be able to start playing?

Those saying that the old tabs were "outdated" are laughable. Warlight in its entirety is 20 years removed from the state-of-the-art, and that's just fine. Sacrificing playability for the sake of "updating" is moronic.

It easily takes me twice as long to find and start playing open games now, due to the slower loading of the dashboard and the necessity of scrolling down past a bunch of crap I don't need to see.

emm, the players I play with dislike it. Again to post the same argument (some cannot read), on the Dashboard there is too much information, it is not "eyefriendly" and you even have to click to see more open games, this is not comfortable.

You once had to sort out how everything worked on this site, so will they. Because it is different for you doesn`t mean new players will have a problem with it. It`s probably not that hard for them to find it (especially if you remember that they won`t have a multiplayer game yet, so it is even further up the page) although I do think that open games being placed above promoted games would be good.

FIZZER READ THIS:

On the dashboard, you should put the 'Map of the Week, Coin Winners, Tournaments, Forums, etc.' boxes on the top of the page. Then, move the coin games and open games right next to the my games making the page easier.

I agree with Lolo

How am I supposed to take it when people are saying crap like WL is going to have no users, everyone is leaving now.

Some people offer constructive feedback. Most of the negative remarks in here offer ZERO value though. I only asked for people to not bother if they aren't going to be specific (and say I have to scroll 7 pages to see open games, for example).

Risk Taker - I suggest mocking that up so we can all understand, and Fizzer too. Pictures would REALLY help.

(You calling this the biggest outcry/worst update, many people agreeing)

It certainly appears to be the biggest outcry. The amount of response this thread has gotten in such a short amount of time seems to dwarf the negative reaction that coin games received. I don't see why pointing that out is somehow bad.

Yeah, you guys are overreacting. That's fact.

Please give me an example of how I've overreacted. I've pointed out that there's a huge community opposition (Truth) and I've given my own personal reasons as to why I don't approve of the update. Meanwhile, I've also denounced the people raging at Fizzer and have tried to encourage a fair and logical discussion about this.

I haven't seen a valid argument except for Math Wolf's in why people dislike it.

Then you either;A) Haven't been paying attention, or B) Are using a really skewed definition of valid.

With the exception of a few pretty much everyone who's opposed to the update have laid out their complaints in a calm, organized fashion.

How am I supposed to take it when people are saying crap like WL is going to have no users, everyone is leaving now.

That's only what a vocal minority is saying. Most people are giving logical criticism of the whole update, but users like you and Thomas seem to be dismissing most of it as "Oh you're just whining. Deal with it." Responses like that don't sway opinions.

^one person has said it slowed down their load. what else am I to go on? Everyone else just complains about clutter. I'm not saying clutter isn't an issue, but you guys are giving Fizzer nothing to work on. If you want less clutter, show an example of a 'non-cluttered' dashboard. I have now said this 5 or 6 times...GIVE EXAMPLES of how to make it better. Simply stating what you don't like won't get us anywhere.

Thats because most of it is whining about "Loading times" along with "Not finding open games" backed with "Crowed and uneyefriendly".

The Dashboard offers more than the opens game tab, it actually shows you what the settings are of the games that you wish to join. On top of that, it leads you directly to the forums. So what, you have to scroll down, but when some people play like 60+ multiday games at a time, just seeing 5 of your games is perfectly alright.

Those bitching about not wanting to see coin games, actually add valid things that you can do to -CHANGE- not just stating, "Oh I don't wanna see them because I don't like coin games".

And I don't think he's talking about you personally Eklipse, I believe he's referring to the people who make no valid points and just say they want their open games/my games tabs back.

There has to be a very good reason besides those stated above. Because if so, it just sounds like people are having a harder time adapting more than anything else.

Well a huge issue in the way here is that a very large chunk of players do not even want the dashboard to begin with. Allowing players the choice between the Dashboard and the My Games/Open Games tabs would silence all the critics at once.

I'm not a website designer, I really don't know how to fix the dashboard. I'll adjust to it eventually sure, but actually having the previous system as an option would be much more ideal.

I would suggest something like this (excuse the 2 minute MS paint job):

Have tabs on the dashboard for the game items (it would function like the Community dashboard where the ladders are on tabs). It would be much easier on the eyes. The counts on the tabs would be your number of games, then Promoted games, then Open Game count (you could have count for coin games also as the tab has now).

I would assume it would not load those other items unless you click on them?

That's actually a great idea. It would improve the Dashboard immensely and give it the same functionality and organization that the old system had.

I fully support this for whatever that's worth.

All right, specifics.

One of the critics earlier mentioned that a good way to fix the issue would be to make all the bubbles in the Dashboard minimizable, which I agree with (more or less). If players are given the option to select what they see on their dashboard, I feel that most people would adjust to it more readily. Specifically for the 'My Games' section of the Dashboard: I think that Fizzer should simply move the options from the 'My Games' tab to Dashboard (eg: Game Filter, Sort, Games per Page). There should also be a in-tab refresh option. I think the Open Games tab should come back, as even with limiting My Games, it is still annoying to scroll down. Also, Coin Games should not show up for players WHO CAN'T USE COINS. If a player feels ready to play coin games, they can go to the coins tab and activate it. (Sorry, pet peeve.) I would love to make a mock-up of all this, but unfortunately am not skilled enough to do so.

TL;DR: Move the viewing options from the old 'My Games' tab to Dashboard, return 'Open Games' tab, hide Coin Games from non-coin players. And make Dashboard bubbles removable.

EDIT: Chris' mockup works well too.

EDIT 2: Also, I felt it deserved mentioning that 2-3 players who had never had any interest in the Forums came out of their caves to mention-ever so briefly-that they wanted the 'My Games' and 'Open Games' tabs back.

Why don't you want the dashboard? What's wrong with it? People have been saying it does not function. What doesn't function? I don't see anything on the dashboard that mygames/opengame tabs did not have.

And no this is not the biggest outcry. In this thread is about equal amount of people agreeing and disagreeing. The announcement to change the name got almost no one agreeing it's a good name to change to. Only people agreeing that the name probably needs to change.

Coin games had like 20+ topics. I just did the search function and get a ton of results. This dashboard change has 3-4 topics atm. Warzone had similar amount of hits as coin games did.

So you're wrong. This isn't nearly as unpopular as those 2 updates.
