Hi guys! I've recently decided that I'm going to try my hand at map making. After a little search through the maps tab, a few online tutorials, some practice, and some thinking, I've decided to make a map of the old counties of Scotland, before their abolition in 1973. What do you guys think? I've attached an image of what the map should like by the time it's done:

What are your thoughts?

Probably just territories; it is my first map. I could proabably make them bonuses and divide them into regions (Southwest, Central, Northwest, etc.)

anything below 50 terries is too low to receive any real play imo

Any map will need 100+ territories to be worth a f$$$.

I mean the end product will be more than the 33 above, but I don't care if it's played or not, it's my first map and I wanted to try something new.

Well yeah i can understand this being your first map.

It's all about getting experience. You'll release your master piece after you release a series of crud.

The map is coming along nicely. I've decided to split the counties up into regions, and the islands as well. I'm also adding important cities such as Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee, etc. The final product will have 70+ territories and should be finished by next week. I'm looking forward to it.

well, the nice thing is you can divide into just those shapes, upload it. get better at map making, then divide into smaller territories to make it more playable.

Here's the map so far: https://www.warlight.net/play?PreviewMap=46132 Anybody have an idea why the bonus numbers don't fit in the box when you zoom in, and if there's a way to fix it?

Hi,

Seems the bonus box are too small (they need more pixels)

You may want to resize the whole map to keep the proportion

How would I go about doing that in Inkscape?

you can select everything and there is a function under the menu's to re-size (by percentage). Might be called transform, can't remember

I've tried making a map of Scotland before, but each time I tried I gave up because I couldn't find a suitable map to trace over. There's plenty of variety in the different maps of Scotland, but in each map there's always too much variety between the sizes of the big bonuses/territories and the small bonuses/territories.
