The year is 2034. The regime to the south persists, ever more isolated on the international stage and beset by economic instability and social unrest. Its institutions continue to decay into corruption and clientelism, while educated professionals continue to leave the country for greener pastures. Poverty has risen dramatically, with the newly destitute left to rely only upon the goodwill of their neighbours. Partly in an attempt to distract the people, and partly through the influence of Claremont Institute imperialists, the regime has engaged in ever more bellicose rhetoric directed at its former ally, Canada. In the last few months, these threats have escalated significantly. American troops are mustering at the border, and defectors have given us information that an invasion is imminent. We must strike first. A critical part of our pre-emptive strike will be in the northeast. If we can occupy it quickly, we will be able to significantly shorten the front line to something more defensible when the Americans pull themselves together. There are three things we ought to consider in this operation. The first is that this region is firmly opposed to the regime, and that significant partisan activity has resulted in a more disorganised troop presence, compounding the issues from military corruption and the recent purges of generals. The second is that anti-war riots in New York City have resulted in the regime diverting significant numbers of troops to 'restore order', which should make things easier for our soldiers until they begin to approach the city. The final thing to consider is that we must maintain the initiative; if we let the enemy advance against us and hold out for too long, they will be able to bring large numbers of reinforcements against us. Good luck. |
