 Its september 2022, the Catholic Church wants to pull a little bit of a silly and create a Vatican Empire to spread Catholic religion and the Latin language (to revive it) wherever it conquers. Italy, France and some of the balkan states declare war on the Vatican but with the power of Catholisism they can conquer anyone. So they recruit catholics all over the world to fight for them and create an empire cuz why not
