April 1945, and all the top nuclear scientists in Germany are locked away by the Nazi regime into a top-secret bunker. The Manhattan project doesn't go ahead. No nukes, and an invasion of the stubborn Japanese mainland seems imminent, threatening to add tens of millions of more casualties to the existing bloodbath.
