I hear your feedback. I'm going to modify it so map creators can invite as many players as they'd like to games they create with their own map.

I appreciate everything the map creators have done - this is certainly not the only thing I plan on doing; this is just a quick fix to alleviate your immediate concern about developing big maps.

Hopefully this will go live within the next 24 hours. This will be part of 1.00.2, which is a small release. Thanks to Impaller for coming up with the idea.

Fizzer must be feeling overworked these past couple of days, and I'm sure it's not going to be alleviated anytime in the foreseeable future..

Fizzer: "invite as many players..."

What about the luck factor?
And than the map-maker must create his game everytime troublesome without templates?
Not really brighter conditions...

Okay, to show that i can more than just to grump here is a suggestion:

Warlight starts on a monday with a thread where anyone can nominate a map-maker with his map(s). This thread is open for 7 days. After that week all members of Warlight can vote (again 7 days) for one of the map-maker that was nominated and that one gets a free membership.

So you have an inducement for everyone to make great new maps and an additional tension every two weeks.
Because only members can vote for this prize for map-makers there is no risk of fake-accounts or something like that.

Well, that's my idea - what do you think?

Yeah, I like that idea a lot. The voting part is necessary - if you just gave out free memberships for making a map, then anyone could upload a dummy map without putting any effort into it as an exploit.

sounds like a plan, i would limit it to one a month personally, purely to allow a fuller part of the community to vote on it, but it really makes little difference.

the problem i see with most giveaways is that once a person has a lifetime membership you've lost all possibility of income from them save for them inviting more people.. if/when we implemented a monthly or quarterly payment system, you could give away a month, a quarter, a year for maps possibly, and even for other things, to offer a chance to prove to them that the game is worth investing in to it's fullest.

*"Then I added IDs suitable for Warlight with a little script of my own."*

How did you do that, MatmaRex?
Assigning Territory_xxx IDs manually is a PITA on large maps ...

It was custom-made, I think that I posted it somewhere.

Although, if you created the map in Inkscape, you can open the .svg file in Notepad and just run find&replace for
|> id="path
and replace to
|> id="Territory_
(or similar) since it automatically assigns unique IDs to everything.

You can even just open the file in Inkscape and resave it.
