The UK has launched a consultation that covers age verification, age assurance, social media bans, AI chatbot/LLM bans, VPN bans, parental controls and other topics.

There are three ways to respond:

  • Full consultation for anyone (civil society, industry and members of the public)
  • Survey for parents and carers of young people aged 21 and under
  • Survey for children and young people (aged 10 to 21)

The consultation is "Growing up in the online world" - https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/growing-up-in-the-online-world-a-national-consultation .

Deadline is 23:59 26 May 2026.

I took the one for individuals and selected all topics. It took me 5 hours to complete.

The internet can be made safer without intrusive age verification methods that have huge security flaws, been hacked and misuse data :)

yup. dont put stuff online you dont want public knowledge imo. age verification is an invasion of privacy but beyond that its just bad/lazy parenting.
