When the media paints a picture, don't automatically believe it's reality.

A certain young man who courageously debated ideas without being hateful about it, is being painted by some news media outlets as being hateful, but he most certainly was not when you actually watch his videos without any presuppositions from what you've heard already. "News" sites like The Guardian (there really are good reasons they are considered fake news) very habitually, unashamedly, and to very large degrees, take things completely out of context- so far that what you're left with, when combined with many other far-out-of-context clips, is nothing at all representative of what the person is really all about..

I also made another post here -

Spread love, not hate. Make peace, not war. Assume good thing about people, not bad things. When the media gives you quotes, withhold judgment. Check them in context. This is so, so important. Context makes a huge difference. Black and white difference.

Anyone using the Guardian as their example of a fake news source can be safely disregarded as a clown. I’m not saying the Guardian is the paragon of journalism - to be clear, it isn’t - but on the spectrum ranging from “news” (BBC/Reuters/AP/etc.) to “fake” (blatant partisan propaganda), it’s better described as news.

It’s pro-Labour, it runs a heavy dose of clickbait, there’s no disagreement here. But the Guardian has actual working journalists who write actual articles beyond just op-ed pieces. Your anger is misplaced my friend.

I was not expressing anger. I don't think it's helpful to read things like that into what people share. What I'm calling for is individual responsibility to always do a deep dive into the full context before you start to form opinions, especially opinions that someone is being hateful.
