Randy could you please end this game(http://warlight.net/App.aspx?GameID=1018787) I don't think either of them are coming back.

Actually, I posted a proposition of creating an auto-booting function in Tournaments but Randy declined it because, as he said, it is similar to his "Auto booting" idea. But it's NOT!
Here is my proposition:

"Auto-booting in Tournaments"
Allows WarLight to boot players automatically after not making their turns for 5 x ’direct boot’ times in any Tournament. This will prevent stagnation of a Tournament if players stopped playing particular game, which is rude to other players who take part in a Tournament.
Example: http://warlight.net/App.aspx?GameID=1065248
http://warlight.net/App.aspx?TournamentID=493

As you see, my idea is much different from Randy's, because it is: 1) not just substituting 'direct boot' button; 2) obligatory for every tournament (not depending on host's wish whether to use it or not); 3) helps to draw a line between leaving playing particular game of a tournament and, for example, agreement not to boot an opponent because he "can’t make his move till Friday" but want to play this game for sure (Randy’s Auto boot option makes such agreement impossible).

what if he can't make his move for boot time X6 due to family issues, and the participants agreed but oh... the auto boot is required, so the game is ruined anyways

-1 on making any sort of auto boot obligatory.
Default maybe, but Obligatory, no

If opponent needs more than 5 x 'direct boot' time than it's becoming "rude to other players who take part in a Tournament" that have to wait for him.

It's not the way of showing politeness to anyone - it's option that helps to make tournament move. Not to wait for couple of idiots that gone to a vacation and stopped playing their games.

hmm..

so a 25hr boot tourny with 200 people, so 6-7 rungs to go up, double elimination, on BIG US, would mean that no one for 2-3 years would be allowed to take a 5day 5 hour vacation without getting booted?

vacations happen, life happens. like i said, if a tourny maker wants to be anal about something like this, make it an option, but making it required for an *auto-boot* feature, when any of the players could easily click *boot* is just a way to kick the casualness out of any game played in a tournament, and perhaps some people still want casual tournaments.

2-3 years with 25 hours boot? Are u kidding me? This is fiction. 1 Round will last maximum a couple of weeks, not more. If host wanted to make it longer, he would have put 3 or 5 days boot, not 1 day and 1 hour.
In big tournaments, where there are (for example) 5v5 games, this option probably will not be needed, because there always will be someone who will boot players that don't move. But even if there would not be such a player, game would still move on, and other teams wouldn't have to wait for few slow donkeys that stagnate whole tournament.
But anyway, Auto-booting is much more needed in individual tournaments. You have already seen my examples and I hope that u understand why.

What we need is letting tourney host boot players in tourney games. Simple.

Ha ha ha. I like the tourney name is "Tournament that will actually Begin!", and the First Round game has been stuck on turn 5 for 178 days. Well, I guess technically the tourney did begin. :)

I don't like the idea of leaving booting in the hands of the cybernet (ie, auto-boot after 5x direct boot), but leaving it up to the tourney host doesn't necessarily work because sometimes the tourney host quits warlight or won't boot on principle. But maybe a boot feature similar to denzyman's idea, that allows any remaining player in the tourney to direct boot a player (after 5x or 10x the game's direct boot time). If the game's players have some agreement on delay, it's up to them to also advertise it in the tourney chat section.

possibly even make a tourny direct boot/vote to boot feature so that people could boot anyone in the tourney that fails that... although i could see a poor setting on that ruining a tourney much quicker then not having it at all does..
