There is one problem with fog and that is that you have no idea how the other teams or players are doing. You're stuck in your own little world, thinking you're doing well, only to find out someone already owns half the world because he started in the USA and everyone left him alone.

Some suggestions:
- sort players by army production without telling the actual number.
- show the color of each controlled country without telling the number of armies.
- show the starting positions, but not the progression.

This way you can actually keep yourself in the game and forge secret alliances to topple the top player. I think we need this bit of information. It's fine to hide some things, but fog is a bit too restrictive. At the moment you have no idea what's going on until the game is over and you look at the history.

Hi Tsuken,

There are several types of fog, some fit to what you ask for. The great thing of warlight it that you can customize the games to a great degree, so you can choose different types of fog such as (among other types) no fog, light fog (for example the one you describe), standard fog (the one you describe) and thick fog (you just see your territories and troops).

I personally LOVE the standard fog. You never know what is happening in other parts of the world, so you have to take into account how other players can be doing. If you don't see a player in many turns, he could easily hold many countries.

As perr says, spy cards can help you to get a better idea of what is really happening, You can also PM to other players and ask them, share information, forge alliances... but they can be lying of course, or you can lie to them ^^

FOW is the best thing in TBS games and i love how deep and complex can make an apparently simple game like this one.

Just try different types of fog and create games with the one you like most. But I think not knowing stuff is many times more exciting than knowing it.
