If you want to receive full points from your games, keep the kill rates at the default of 60% offense and 70% defense. Changing them will reduce the number of points that game gives out.

Kill rates seem to rarely be used, won't this just make it even less so? I'm all for getting rid of feeder games, but is it worth the cost of nobody wanting to use this feature anymore? I feel like it could have just as easily been less points only if the att/def rates are more than 15/20% apart. I often use 63/69 for kill rates in games, and i don't see why I should get less points in those games when the rates are still competitive.

check this settings, it may become popular soon:
http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=4687924

if you want to stop game like this, you can also reduce points from game with altered bonuses, but wouldn't consider it as good thing.

I think it has to be something about game's length - maybe games that last less than 3 turns? Or games without enough number of executed orders?

yes, it was multiday by mistake, that's why i've created another;P

Anyway, it's even better that's all those "100% kill ratio", as you don't need 2nd turn ;)

I think game length (in turns?) would be a great way to sort out farming games, since a farming game that takes a long time wouldn't be worth it.

Well but there are also lots of normal 1v1 games that are already decided after a couple of turns

those 100% kill rate games were jusr ridiculous, but what about allowing some flexibility?

kszyhoo: Overriding bonuses to where one picking strategy will always win is considered an unfair game, which is not allowed. Please refrain from creating these in the future. Other players have already lost their levels from creating unfair games (after they were warned and continued anyway.)

yeah, but did you check settings?. There is automatic distribution, so there is no picking strategy at all. It's pure luck, 50% chance for win, you can't lose if you get good territory(the only exception is getting booted), so it's even fairer that "100% kill ratio", cause there is no way to miss altered settings (in "100% kill ratio" you can do nothing and that means you lose, in this setting it will just delay your win). So how can you call this 'unfair' if you allowed 100% offence kill ratio?

Also, as you are Warlight Creater you can probably also check how many games like this i've created and if you do this you can easily count it was the whole three ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOrgLj9lOwk&t=1m30s ). The whole points of creating those games was to show, that punishing altered kill ratio doesn't solve this problem and to propose and discuss other solutions. But instead of really try to figure out something about it i was just accused of creating unfair game and warned not to create more (as if i've created any before). That's simply not nice :(

In my opinion 20% of the points earned is a little bit too less... :\
When te difference is bigger then 40% between offensive and defensive, ok, but I think it isn't a really good idea.

Oh great, i like games with 100%/100% because they are very fair and easy to understand. Now they get less points for... for what? Less fairness?
So silly...

What about prison break, which is a legit template with changed rates

I prefer the idea of reducing games with over x% difference between defensive/offensive kill rates. There are plenty of legit templates with modified killrates.

to everyone sad about the measure: its not like you wont be able to play with those settings anymore. its just that you wont be getting as many of you precious points if you do. here is a wild idea: how about going back to creating games for fun instead of for points?

^ +1

While I do agree with Arun's idea I don't think points should be the factor deciding which games you play - you should just play with the setting you enjoy the most.

Well, the whole point of the duel template is that offensive kill rate is higher than the defensive kill rate; most of the objections here (sans Prison Break) still have higher or equal defensive kill rates than offensive. Perhaps a better plan would be only to take away points if the offensive kill rate is higher than the defensive kill rate.

Season IX's games had an 85% defensive kill rate, which would fall under the current rules of 20% despite being a decently strategic template.

@ChrisCMU: Roleplaying (Multi-day) games end in vote, Diplo (Real-time) games are usually ranked and don't end in vote. There's a big difference between the two despite having a similar concept :/

I have a question. Does my won auto-game fall under this category?, because when I won 1 the game multiplier was 50%, any idea why. The same was with my ffa I won.

Regarding RT having lower points, perhaps it is due to the fact that they have a far higher boot rate than do multi-day games and are more likely to be manipulated through settings than are multi-day.

Fizzer, would this template be fair? http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer.aspx?TemplateID=342656

This template attempts to abuse the income overflow fix*. If a player plays the wrong number of sanction cards, they will either have half of the armies the other one does (leading to sure defeat), or they will have 0 income (Also leading to sure defeat.)

*If your income goes over ~2 billion, it resets to 0.

Here's 3 practice games I made with my alt to show what could happen.

#1 - 1 player uses 1 more sanction card than the other: http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=4691514
#2 - 1 player plays too many sanctions and overflows: http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=4691510
#3 - Weird stuff happened: http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=4691515
