i log into Warlight play my multi day games then go to open games only to see 20 game options 9 of them are farm games like duel with 100% offensive kill rate and that pig game 9 are 15-24 player games that will take forever to fill i feel like we are opening Pandoras box if warlight attracts more players there will be even more large games and farmer games i am going to give you a worse case scenario of what the future may hold for warlight

i wake up one morning to see hedja gets to level 100 most players are level 40-60 that means most people can make 24 FFA there are countless large FFAs and the games that are not are the cheap farmer games people will start playing possibly 10 at a time as the levels get harder to go up no one is buying membership because now after your first game your already level 6 you can get alot of points by beating a level 71 after a couple of months new players will level up very quickly im getting tired of playing the same 24 diplo games over and over again so i make a good old Europe 3v3 only for it to take 10-20 min to fill then when the game starts my teammate gets booted turn one but the other team wont VTE because they want to level up out of my frustration i leave warlight for a few months when i come back i will see one of 2 outcomes

A: it has gotten worse there are over 100 open games they are all cheat games or large FFAs quality games take a long time to fill up there is no more VTE because people all want to level up maybe that part has stopped assuming levels stop at level 100 this problem will continue to grow until something is done

B:there were more people like me.... many people have left warlight there are maybe 10 players on at any given time the large FFAs are no more the cheat games simply wont be joined it still may take a while to fill 3v3s as there are few people playing warlight any more after this scenario there are 2 more that branch off

BA: fizzer shuts down warlight it is no longer profitable warlight 2.0 will have been the death of warlight

BB: slowly players come back to warlight and a good quality game develops again will the 24 FFAs and Diplos come back with the players i dont know maybe it will maybe it wont but there will be a short golden era in warlight if they come back

we can avoid this its not too late

BA: I think it would be more likely for Fizzer to make a WL 3.0 wich is based on 1.0 and gets the points out of here, instead of just leaving the site behind. Also this just won`t happen. Thanks to the adds Wl is now profitable (or at least it costs less, I dunno). Altough players who have been here before WL 2.0, I think that these changes are great for new players. And that is Fizzer goal. To get more people here, the most of us will stay because of WL 2.0. It is not that bad. There are a few complainments, but the positive side is much bigger (but we tend to look only at the bad side of things sometimes)

Should be: Although players who have been here before WL 2.0 are complaining a bit right now, I think that these changes are great for new players.

AA: The more experianced players all join clans, where they enjoy normal games as before. The ladders play on as before, maybe with an added 3v3 ladder. Life goes on, the only bad thing is the abandonment of the open games tab by experianced players.

The farming stage will die out, don't worry. but diplos are unfortunately here to stay, and as non-members can now make them we are screwed :/

Now what is wrong with non-members being able to make their own diplomacy? That is good they have the same experience of creation and ability they always wanted to do! That is good, but it doesn't mean your screwed.

The annoying thing is, even though non-members can make 24 diplos by leveling up, they still choose to make games, pleading with high-leveled players to create one for them.

How are we screwed if non-members can make diplomacies? That is just ridicoules to think and I see no reason for it to be a problem they should have all rights to have fun and make their own game, but unfortunately people in this world do not appreciate equality in this world fearing people will make problems just like peoples' fear of immigration.

A couple of pointers:
1. Always check the settings, this is mentioned in Warlight tips, it almost qualifies as commonsense.
2. People have always created farm games, it's only picked up now because, as you mentioned, players wanna level up faster, particularly veterans and members who feel that new updates have pushed them down a notch. This is understandable, although those players who are overdoing it are getting a lot of bad rep, hedja is a good example of this ^^

That aside, die-hard players won't give up just because of a few inconveniences, they'll just wait until new updates come out or they'll work around the problems to keep good quality games going. Clans (also mentioned) are particularly useful for this. That being said, the new updates have allowed a series of amazing game concepts to come out, my old account is playing in one of Bakarin's new games which is pretty interesting. With ads bringing in new revenue and Warlight getting more PR it's unlikely that Fizzer is gonna call it quits a few weeks after 2.0 comes out, he doesn't strike me as the give-up-at-first-sign-of-trouble kinda guy.

Diplo games can actually be fun, but I personally only join practice games since stats are of some importance when joining certain "prestigious" clans and my chances of winning a 15+ diplo game are...less than favourable, regardless of how good you are :P

Anyways, that's my 2 cents worth.

Your predictions are very pessimistic the worst thing 2.0 could do is turn warlight into a farming to level game and that only serves to make fizzer richer due to the adverts in this farming games. This is the nature of advert games and fizzer will win either ways.

also the problem with many people having the ability to make 24 dipo games is because there will be so many of those games and none of them will be filled

I can deal with all the stupid open games. What I cannot stand is the tournaments that NEVER fill because people do not clean up their invite lists and you can't invite anybody else to a tournament. Then they don't have autoboot on either so it takes forever to progress.

Having invite lists added to automatically (with anyone you play with) is a HORRIBLE idea IMO. I get why it was done (to build a network of who you played with), but in practice it ruins tournaments by filling invites with inactive players.

Every few months I totally clear my invite list. Every few weeks I use a bulk removal tool (at twenty days). My invite list is currently at 970 people though (I peaked at a LOT higher before).

970? Do you have auto add option on?

Why would people have 970 players on their invite list? Mine is 100 (odd, but it is exactly that). And some of them are simply for clan challenges, nations cup, etc. I will remove some of those after they finish.

Arun, you do know you can set you invite list to manual, so people are only added to it if you add them... Would save you a lot of time.

Wouldn't save me a lot of time - I'd have to add people whenever I make a tourney or something. I'm happy with my system.

Uhg, you are part of the problem then Arun. Adding people automatically is why all these tournaments are held up so much.

What is the point of auto adding? Why not just use open seats/tournaments if you don't care who joins? That is the reason to use a manual list, you have control over what people you want to play with regularly. I just don't understand why someone would make a tournament with forward invites only, then forward to an auto list. You are making a tournament with controls, then taking away all control.
What have we done?: 8/14/2013 13:47:54

That goes for joining a tournament and then forwarding invites to your auto list too. Obviously the maker of the tournament wanted some control over the invites. When you forward to your auto list, you just undid all that control and sabotaged their tournament.

So you sift through 970 names to invite certain ones? Again, I don't see any use to the auto add option at all.

And most people that use auto add (to invite list) will never clean up their list. Just because you might doesn't mean it isn't a huge issue overall.
