Question about bonus link borders: 2022-07-21 22:54:41

Hi,

I'm relatively inexperienced with map making in Warzone and I ran into an issue with the transparency of bonus link borders.

How do I make a bonus link's default yellow border become transparent? First, here's an example of what I'm referring to (the bonus links on the right side of the screen, on the "chart"): https://www.warzone.com/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=98958

So, I'm aware that people set the stroke opacity for the bonus link to 0 (https://imgur.com/a/f8xmlPy), but this did not work for me. The bonus links continued to have a bright yellow border when I uploaded the (saved) map to Warzone no matter what I tried. I ended up giving up and surrounding the bonus links with a symbol (☧) that I turned into a path so it would show up and blend in with the bright yellow colour of the bonus link's stroke. However, this prevented me from placing bonus links anywhere on territories, because the ☧ symbol would be overridden by the territory, so all my bonus links are bunched up along the coast of my map. My goal is to have transparent bonus links that I can place anywhere on the map.

Here's my map: https://www.warzone.com/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=99588

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

It looks like you reduced the alpha channel instead of the opacity slider. in inkscape its in that same fill/stroke panel just below the options.

Also, you should join the map makers discord! https://discordapp.com/invite/DHERfnT

Thanks so much for your reply!

Unfortunately, I reduced the "Opacity" slider below the "Alpha (opacity)" to 0, and it had no effect either (the yellow border still persists). Here's what I saw: https://imgur.com/a/7pRsiyq Maybe I'm not seeing the correct slider somewhere?

if you're using Inkscape, then this is the slider you want

Edit: also make sure your bonuses are 'ungrouped' in my experience when an object is 'grouped' even with nothing other than itself, weirdness occurs.

Update: issue fixed after discussion. Just going to add this in case anyone else has the same problem in the future.

Editor: Inkscape 1.2 (2022-05-15)
Issue: Bonus links would continue to have a yellow border even after removing opacity in Inkscape.
What was causing it: The bonus link's object (that is, the shape) was not a path. Warzone seems to work with paths, not objects, for interactive elements like bonus links. To make an object a path, select the object, go to Path>Object to Path.

Note about "Alpha (opacity)" vs. "Opacity": Inkscape has these two slider settings that look similar. "Alpha (opacity)" modifies the opacity of an object's border (also known as a stroke). "Opacity" modifies the opacity of the entire object. The correct one to change to remove a bonus link's default yellow border color is "Alpha (opacity)", so the above reply is NOT correct. In Inkscape, select the bonus link, go to Ctrl+Shift+F>Stroke Paint>A: Alpha (opacity) and set it to 0. Do this AND turn the bonus link's object into a path if you haven't already done so.
