Hi All, fairly new to WarLight, Started out learning in Levels 1/2/3 (8/18/36) and have moved to the first challenge level but am finding it really frustrating. After a dozen or so turns the AI just seems to bulldoze through me. It's almost as if it has an unlimited income generator and it can move pieces around the board at will (I know that's not the case, but when all you can see is fog after a few turns, it's hard not to think that)

I'm not asking for a full walkthrough (that takes the fun out of it), but can anyone who's taken that challenge to town offer any tips on how to gain a foothold and make a run of it? I get into France/Spain/Benelux/Germany/Northern Italy before I'm handed my head on a platter. I've tried different approaches from divide and conquer to blitz attacks to trying to keep the AI's large armies at bay and nothing I've learned from the first three levels seems to work.

send all your big airlift bonuses to your ally. the computer tends to concentrate on him, letting you slowly whittle down his bonuses.

also, play recklessly. just dismantle his bonuses as best you can.

Well, I gave it the old college try (about 2 doz times) and nothing much has changed. The opposing AI doesn't call off the dogs on me when I give the Airlifts to my Ally AI. On top of that, the Ally AI seems to be really stupid (IMHO) and squanders his gift (i.e. using all 119 to attack a neighbouring region with 1 army instead of breaking up into two or three groups and spreading the wealth.

While I tried to distract the Opposing AI with the Airlifts to the Ally, I did as you suggested and tried to dismantle his bonuses, but it seems that it simply follows my trail of destruction with a vacuum army and swallows up any progress I've made.

Any other tips/suggestions?

I remember trying to fortify France and Spain but I would always lose, so I think what I did was rush the opponent and not worry about capturing any bonuses.

The AI will almost always put a huge army in Southern France, or Spain. But you have a huge army to start, so head that way with them. Rest of your forces take and disrupt bonuses. Keep attacking, don't let him get into England. If you send enough to your ally, he will create problems that let you advance on the Germans. Sometimes I sent all 120 reinforcements to Russians, sometimes I took the last one myself. It's doable either way.

I won Europe twice under 20 turns, just rush with your armies and send reinforcements to ally, but do it right - he's stupid, you have to be wiser. When you see 100 enemy armies about to attack his 10, airlift there - the enemy will hit the stack. Do it right, maybe have some luck, easy win in 20 turns.

Hey Guys, thanks for all the tips!! I've successfully put the Europe Challenge AI into a hurt locker, in 48 turns mind you, but nobody ever said it had to be pretty. I think I've had enough practice with the computer so if anyone's up for a game, message me, otherwise I'll see you in the open challenge room!
