Yeah man, I'm sick of it, smoking turns you into a slave, always thinking about when the next chance to have a cigarette will be. 15 years, time to give it up.

I used to only smoke when I drank. I liked the nicotine rush.

Last year when I was in the outback I got a nice pouch and would have a smoke as part of a evening ritual. It took off from there.

The lady in my life didn't like it so I stopped. We broke up all bets were off.

I have to admit. I haven't really thought about smoking but tonight I most definitely want one.

What triggers you mate.

Aligning it with the calendar month gives you the added benefit of getting to call it Ocsober.

Good job.

I'm a cocktail bar / restaurant manager, and pretty much everybody in the industry smokes... We tend to do long 12-15 hr shifts, often without breaks, so having a cigarette is the only way you can take 5 minutes away from it.

Alcoholism is another hazard of course, so I occasionally do a sober month just to make sure it hasn't got me yet!

Thanks Nich - so now I'm doing stoptober for smoking and Ocsober for drinking!

5 days in.

Hope everyone is still going strong.

I have to say I haven't had the time or opportunity to drink. Though I thought about going to the pub while I was in town but the sf kc game was over. So I feel comfortable on that front

The bigger urge is for tobacco but I haven't touched it and am pleased with that.

Great stuff! I've managed both so far too... It has been tough though because I also live above the bar I manage, so I've been spring cleaning like a maniac all night to take my mind off of it!

Stay strong guys!

Boston, you going to be able to stay sober with Chara shelved for 4-6 weeks, Mayo done for the year and Chandler gone for a month?

I had my first blemish. But well see how the rest of the month goes.

There's a lot to not like in Boston. But I haven't been in Boston in two years

Boston sports will turn it around.

Pats haven't been a true contender for years. But will be a playoff team.

Bruins may not win the east. All I care about is playoff time.

We all have slip ups. It's the process that matters.

Don't beat yourself up guys. This is something you are doing for yourself. It's alright to slip.

What you are trying to take away from this is a better understanding of yourself and a better grip on vices.

I've been really looking at myself and trying to make myself a better man at the same time.

This is just personal development.

even though i'm not much of a drinker, I join you, mate :)

for this to be the same process, i'll join you, but in my case - it'll be snacks and junk food for me to refrain from.

Since I've been legally allowed to drink, I've gone 6 years without touching the stuff.

There are also the years before that as well, but I don't break the law so they're not worth mentioning.

30 days is nothing.

Were going to push through till the end of November. Make it 30 days.

Cheery dog. That's absolutely lovely for you. Perhaps you should post in a different thread that may be more fitted to your interests.

A 30 day break from drinking or smoking for some is a rather significant thing. I don't think it needs to or should be belittled.
