Hello,

Just started making my third map and this is the first look of the development.
I did some research on the coat of arms and the position of the mega bonuses. The most likely possibilities are Latin Empire, Byzantian Empire, Kingdom of Jerusalem, Sultanate of Rum, Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia, Abbasid Caliphate, and the Fatimid Caliphate. There is also some space for incorporating the military orders of the Teutonic Knights, Knights Hospitaller, Templar Knight and the Hassasins.

Your comments and views are as always very welcome :)

Not bad....

There isn't enough information to properly judge it yet, but it's looking good

Size looking good, maybe one more connection to cross Aegean Sea? Otherwise Naxos (I guess it is Naxos) seems too important

But what is that big island between Crete and Cyprus? And I agree that would be good a new waterway between the west-end of Africa and north-west Greece.

I agree with Timinator. 1-2 more connections there would be better.

@Urfang
That island is Rhodos, though it's much larger on the map than in real life.
@map
It looks much better with the background! Did you make that yourself?
And there are a few inconsistencies:
You can't cross the Filyos in Turkey, but you can cross the Nile in one place.
The naval travel lines in the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea look differently.
And I think there should be a connection between Lemnos in Greece and Ezine in Turkey.

First i would like to thank everyone for the comments and suggestions.

Timinator
You are quite right i missed that and will correct it.

Urfang
I know some features are over exaggerated but it's all in the spirit of playability as the medditeranian islands we're very important in this period and i wouldn't like to leave them with one territory just to maintain geographical accuracy. Game play is more important :)

Qi
will do as Timinator pointed out

Moros
Thanks for the clarification :)
I did make it by myself (i used some premade vectors that are readily available for free, as it is too much work to draw then from scratch)
As for the inconsistencies it is all about creating choke points and making the map more interesting (at least i hope so :)))
Lemnos in Greece and Ezine in Turkey - Connection noted will be done

and thanks again for the insight :))

One more things that just came to mind and it should add more connections i forgot to include Malta and it was an important place during this period.
I also have one more question:
Do you find the background color too bright i'm thinking of making it a bit darker?

cheers :)

adding malta to get rid of the dead end in africa seems legit when you focus more on playability than on accuarity

This looks like a great map! I have one suggestion: After the "Fall of Jerusalem" title, and before the coats of arms, you could put the approximate (or exact) dates for the time period this map represents, such as "1044 - 1286 AD" (or whatever it is). Some people may not know much about the history you are depicting, and this would add some perspective. It would like great in the same cool font you've been using.

Well i have run into some trouble here :)) i forgot to include bigger cities as separate bonuses so i'ts gonna take a bit longer than i expected.
Also i'm having second thoughts about including Malta it's quite far away and there are no islands in between, so i'm open to suggestions about solving the dead end in Africa. Maybe a simple naval route from greece would solve it.

You should just make a waterway between Cyrene and Dyrrakhion\Aulona\Ioannia\or Arta

What happened with the compass star? It was more detailed.

i was thinking about that it seems the simplest solution :)
The compass rose had to be simplified there's a limit on map size :))

It's looking very good!
One question: wasn't Alexandria way more important in that time than Cairo?

Nope, Cairo was the capital of the Fatimid Caliphate and also of Saladin's Ayyubid dynasty after he took over Egypt and established his own dinasty.
