was just reading another thread and recalled some games where someone grows into control freak mode wanting to be the natural born leader and correct everyone's orders.

don't get me wrong, i'm all for suggesting plays to team mates, pointing out obvious mistakes and such. and sometimes there is an obvious need for someone to step up and decide "we should be going this way" to coordinate a strategy properly.

but it really annoys me when people grow into this control freak status and question every order decision from their team mates they might not agree with.

i just think a balance is a lot more needed then an actual leader.

opinions?

team with balance < team with a strong leader

Gnuffone is right. A balanced team will more often then not lose to a team with a strong leader coordinating them. Also, by taking orders, you learn better strategy and improve your game.

If that was true, teams made of multiaccounts would always win.

having a puppet do the dirty work of plugging in the orders allows the puppet master to focus more on strategy. the more clicking, the less strategic thinking (unless the puppet master stares at the game for hours or days just to make a move). this is why successful people need secretaries to do menial tasks.

This statement is true only if the team leader is far more experienced than his teammates. In a team whose players have roughly the same level, i remain convinced that three different points of view are better than a single one and i would opt for a balanced approach.

If one leader was in charge of every move then you might as well be playing 1v1 .After all the whole point of team games is to get different opinions and teamwork to make the right moves, spot mistakes in each other and help each others plans and add own input.2 heads are better than 1 and i feel control freaks are just egomaniacs and puppets might as well be alts that work thanks to instructions via chat.

Qi/Gui is a control freak.

Quite.

"the whole point of team games is to get different opinions and teamwork"
A 1v1 can be aswell, it works nicely, and its fun.

I have to defend my egomaniac puppet mode tendencies here.
Normally I would be content to just let the game unfold as it would, but if I strongly disagree with a move my teammate is doing and I ask them to change the order I expect them to do so. Even if they would disagree, especially if they disagree without logic or reason.
On the other hand, puppet mode I only use against players who are clearly weaker then me and/or allies who just made a misclick or such

Memo to myself:

Do the dumb things I gotta do. Defend the puppet mode.
