It depends on what the map is.

The map; "Small Earth" would have been easier to finish than the map; "The Big World Map" because these two maps have a significant difference in the number of territories.

P.S You have Caps Lock on ;)

Basic guide for working out how long it takes to make a map.

2hours + 10min*number of bonuses + 6min*number of territorys.

This formula works for most maps to a reasonable estimate.

But in an nutshell it takes a very very long time.

@skunk940: My US Regions map (http://warlight.net/Map?ID=8366) took 17 days, and according to your estimating formula it takes 2224 minutes (1 day and 13 hours), 9% of actual time. I think this estimate is too low for Issander and too high for me.*

* Issander's Huge Earth map http://warlight.net/SinglePlayer.aspx?PreviewMap=15785 is started on 7/25/2012 and South America part (202 territories, 60 bonuses, not exactly) took 16 hours and 44 minutes. and with your formula the result is 32 hours and 12 minutes, almost double the actual time.

10min*number of bonuses?? I`m only working around 2 min per bonus.
6min*number of territorys?? although you have to do this as: making them, naming them in Inkscape, Name them in WL and -if needed- correct them in Inkscape again. Per single territory it still isn`t 6*min. I have around 6min per bonus + 2min extra for every super bonus.

It differs greatly.

My European Borders map: http://warlight.net/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=15479
took over a month of regular developement, from start to finish. (More if you include testing)

On the otherhand my Africa map : http://warlight.net/SinglePlayer.aspx?PreviewMap=19662
took under 24 hours to make. It is still in development, but not for long.

It really depends how skilled you are with Inkscape, my first map "South America and the Caribbean" took ages as I got used to the software, but my most recent map (with more territories) took 1/4 of the time.

It takes a long time, but if it is a good map at the end of it, that you'll enjoy playing on (And others will too) it is worth it.
