Over the last week or so my brother and I have been making a map of the Western Balkans. It includes all of the former Yugoslav states and Albania. Its still a work in progress.

Other than showing off this work, I also want to ask anyone if they have any tips on how to make the best of the map and for some feedback. If anyone wanted to play it I'll check back tomorrow and make a testing game for it for those wishing to be involved :)

Mulling over whether to put all the bonuses in the top right of the screen, suggestions more than welcome.

A couple things I noticed. You should get the cities to display above the other bonuses (they don't stand out). You can do that by removing and adding the bonus overlapping the city (the first one in should be on top). Also, you need to un-overlap the lines between bonuses so they stand out more. Right now you can only see the color of one of the overlapping bonuses, not both. You may want to wait to do that until after testing though, as you could change territories from one bonus to another and waste time moving lines now.

Looks good overall. I did not test connections or anything as that would take some time that I don't have.

As far as your question, don't do it. Better to have the bonus links near the bonuses as much as possible IMO. Otherwise the map becomes way to cumbersome.

One more thing I noticed...you should put your bonus links in a pattern that matches the bonus location on the map. There is a europe map that does this well, I will try to find a link. But basically if you have a grid of bonus links, you want the top right bonus link to be the top right bonus in that grouping. Same with top left, etc. Right now if you click the bonus links, the bonuses they associate with jump all over the region in no particular order.

Here is an example of bonus link location (see europe portion) based on physical location:

I'll rearrange the bonuses in due course, what I'm dreading is moving the territories boundaries to make bonuses more visible -sigh-

Yeah, that is a pain. I would suggest doing testing first because you might find you need to change some bonuses then.

Also, some people did some tutorials on here that help, but it is still a pain to do.

Using Inkscape, I find the only way I can do it is by physically dragging the lines into place... Working out what'd be easier, tracing over the whole thing or just dragging... Either way it is gonna take a while

There is a way to auto buffer (can do in or out), but that does all edges of that polygon. I can't see that being helpful except for the cities ones (1 territory per bonus) where you could just buffer it inside.

Personally, I click on the line (between nodes) and it selects both nodes on either end of segment. Then hold shift (I think it is shift, if not CTRL), and add to the selection. Select the entire edge and then move it at once (or at least in big portions). 100 times better than moving individual nodes but still tedious. If there is a better way I'd like to know.

My bad, the sources I used told me otherwise, I need to get names for all of them in their language, or might just settle for all in English..
